if you have an android phone, take a picture of it. in the camera app, select the LENS option and once you take the picture, it will return the plant names that resemble it. pretty slick.

I believe it may be a variety of horsemint. One of the monarda varieties.

If it has a square stem then it is one of the mints.

I believe this is mountain mint (Pycnanthemum incanum) or possibly Loomis's mountain mint (Pycnanthemum loomisii).

Another way is the run your hand through it, then smell it. If it is mint, your hand should smell like mint.

I’m fairly certain it’s hoary mountain mint. It’s one of the more common varieties native to AL.
