I didn’t. Gotten to where I don’t watch sports because of all the politics. I used to love baseball

My dad played second base

Played y'all in the regular season at Northside - I coached one of our teams this year. One of many reasons we don't play Dixie Youth any longer... we played USSSA state over in the Oxford area this year and had a great experience.

What age group?

American kids;
Football season
Basketball season
Baseball season
Throw in a little hunting season

Latin American kids
Baseball season
Baseball season
Baseball season
Throw in a little soccer

baseball is year around for them. It explains a lot.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

That may be somewhat true but I know of young kids that play baseball year around. Go to baseball camps periodically and have year around instruction. It’s big business here in the shoals

That umpire should’ve turned his “rabbit ears” off and done his job. If you can’t handle the fans then you shouldn’t be an umpire

I remember the ONE year I got a new pair of cleats. Always used hand me down gloves. Was issued a uniform at the beginning of the season and turned it in at the end. No fancy sunglasses worn upside down on the bill of our hats. No gold chains around our neck. Baseball is just different now days. It’s funny, I played it all growing up and got involved volunteering when my kids came along. It didn’t take me long to absolutely HATE baseball, after getting involved as an adult.

Which Fayette team did your son play on during the regular season?

I’m sorry. He played on Kevin Bass team in regular season. I said Nick.

It would not have been good if another coach would have slapped Kevin's daddy Steve when he was younger.

So where's the line ? Can a fan say anything he/she wants to an ump?

He figured that out and left them to it.

Doesn’t happen in any other sport. You may hear it at football games but the fans are so far away from the field, the referee’s can’t hear it. Go to a little league/high school basketball game and let a referee hear you mouth at them. You MAY get ONE warning, but after that you will be escorted out. Like I said, baseball is very strange to me in what all not only is allowed but almost expected.

Yeah, it gets mouthy at Basketball games too. Folks are close to the action and the refs will send a problem to the parking lot quicker than an ump at the baseball field.

Sounds like they need to start chunking parents out at the games on the first offense
At one time I thought there was a no tolerance policy

Giving the Ump a hard time does that really work out for the one rabble rousing?
I’d think not. That strike zone might get a lot tighter or looser depending.

The great Kent Murphy explains how to be an umpire. Good lesson on loud parents. There’s some foul language in it FYI

Should of called me bro. Not only could I of brought my outlaw crew. Got a Leo or 2 from that area that would of made the ride with me. I hate that ball field. I spent a long hot summer running all the conduit underground for them ball fields when it was built. I couldn't of helped how they called the game, but y'all wouldn't of had to worry getting to your cars.

Appreciate it! 😉
I don’t reckon any of us adults were too worried about it. We had quite a crew that could’ve held their own and I don’t think the other side would’ve enjoyed what they got into had it got that far. We were certainly not looking for a fight but if that’s what it had turned into we had a few men that I bet they’d regret messing with.
