I ordered a TRD Pro 4Runner last October and it came in mid December from Sand Mountain Toyota. I did everything by phone, email and text until I had to go pick it up. Price was MSRP which was pretty good considering other dealerships were charging $10K and up over MSRP. I am in Orlando right now and the Lexus dealership was loaded with new vehicles.

Toyota knows they have a great product that is in high-demand. There's no reason for them to negotiate on price when they are selling before they even hit the lot.

No comparison in ride between the Highlander and RAV 4. My wife has a Highlander and my mother-in-law has a RAV 4 . Ride in the back seat of both , you’ll choose the Highlander hands down.

Yea TN, I don't have a problem with MSRP plus taxes but the all the dealer add on packages then $999 doc fee. Is what ticks me off.

We looked and were close to ordering from Decatur Toyota , they would only sell if we used Toyota financing which had a terrible rate, I called Tuscaloosa Toyota about ordering one and they said they didn’t care where the money came from, so we ordered a 4Runner from them at MSRP. I will say they were very good to deal with. I

It’s on purpose to tell u there’s a waiting list. There ain’t no phucking waiting list. It’s all a lie to get the inflated price. Keeping inventory low at dealerships is by design and they eventually will be gone. U will eventually buy direct because u don’t really need them.

Call Oxford, MS Toyota. Straight shooters and no BS. I’ve bought two with the help of John Mardis during Covid, including a RAV4. They will “reserve” whatever you want. I use “” bc you cannot order a Toyota. You can however have the dealership use their allotment on a specific vehicle, so you get really close to exactly what you want (maybe with or without an option or two). You don’t have to take what a dealership has already ordered. That is simply bc those particular dealerships are too lazy to go through the process or do not need your business. You should be able to get whatever package you want in any color. Caveat is some may take longer to receive.
Also, to all of those that say they won’t pay extra for stupid add ons you may as well stop shopping in Alabama bc all of southeastern Toyota vehicles have the add ons from the distributor, gulf south doesn’t make that a requirement like SE. When I shopped Alabama price was about $1500 for exactly the same vehicles just bc Southeastern Toyota’s non negotiable add ons.

I was almost to the point of flying up to KY, MO, KS and driving back in one, due to the same situation you’re running into…no stock, only lists to jump on for what they have ordered, not necessarily what you want and unreliable delivery dates.

Flew to Tampa last year to purchase a used Tacoma. Chose from four down there that beat prices in our area by 5k.

I bought my wife a new Toyota Highlander a few months back. We went to three dealerships before we found one that would deal with us. Toyota of Ft Walton came down considerably on their listed price.

Come to a dealer in Alabama or any other Southeast Toyota Dealer. They have different ( better) pricing than the rest of the US . The Moran family controls Southeast Toyota. Jim Moran began importing Toyotas in the late 60s. When Toyota really went big , he cut a deal to retain the deep south states for himself. Tennessee is not a Southeast Toyota state . They also do there own financing and will have better rates . They have different packages and options than the rest of the country . We were shopping for a Toyota a few years ago and I called Chattanooga , the salesman flat out told me they could not compete with a Southeast Toyota dealer , couldn't even get close. We've bought several from Sand Mountain Toyota , the Sales manager is from Scottsboro . Met him when he was a salesman at the Scottsboro dealer.

For those living in Alabama and buying in other states, how does that work in vehicle taxes???

I would guess you are paying the other state's tax and then having to pay taxes to Alabama as well????

Many guys wouldn't consider the extra money having to be paid after the purchase, but I don't know how much extra that is????

No matter where you purchase, you pay only your state sales tax. The dealer can include in price or you can pay when you get your tag. You do not pay double sales tax.

I got screwed by buying mine in bama living in Tennessee and then will be going back to bama next year. I had to get mine now due to our baby. I will pay a 2500$ Tenn tax then pay Bama’s tax in the subsequent years

Correct , never let the other state collect tax , UNLESS they are going to remit it correctly to Alabama, County and City . Best if they don't collect any and then you can do it correctly when you get back home.

Y'all need to visit a better dealership. Bought my wife a new truck in April, and the only thing different from pre-rona was the extra I got on her trade because of used value, and they only marked it up about 10% when they put it on the lot.
