Anyone paramotor on here? I don't, but we met some old friends from high school last night at Mildreds Buffet in Ardmore, and he had his paramotor. He cranked it up in a field next to the restaurant and took off flying. Then I saw two other folks flying nearby at the same time. Those things look quirky, but they sure look like fun. Not sure I'd try it, but never say never! Thing had a 28 horse 2-stroke motor.

Isn’t that those fan powered para gliders with the seat? If so I haven’t seen one in quite a while. Always reminds me of that old 90’s movie with the dude that travels among the flock of geese.

Not sure. He puts it on like a backpack and runs with, but seems to sit when flying.

I see them occasionally over my area. There is a very small airport just over the mountain from us, and I had wondered if they start from there. Wasn’t sure what was required to fly them in an area next to an airport

I was looking at one the other day that is a rotary powered go cart looking thing that can fly. It was called a parajet, looked like a good way to scout for turkeys

Someone posted a link a couple weeks ago on here where some guy took one waaaaay up to where it's freezing cold and the air is really thin. I don't really remember how high but it seems like it was 30 or 40 thousand feet.

Never had a motor on one.

And it's VERY cold at those altitudes.

There’s a guy on YouTube, who has an ultralight. He’s in Australia and takes off to all these little island on it and fishes/camps. Pretty cool.

I know a guy that use to fly one around here. He’d have a couple others flying with him. I’ll have to say it’s a no for me.

But…I’d prob try that before I’d go 2.5 miles down in a sub made from parts bought at camping world. 🤷🏻‍♂️

A buddy of mine had one until he flew it into a power line, got wrapped up in it and had to call the fire department to get him down. He sold it shortly afterward.

Several years back there was a group of 4-5 that would fly around my house on Sunday afternoons. One crashed and died and I never saw another one again. They either all gave it up or started flying elsewhere.

My friend who was flying, lives in Prattville. So if some y'all live in that area, you may have seen him. He has a youtube channel/. One of his videos is a crash! He's still at it. lol
