How many jakes did y'all see throughout the season....?
I only saw four in central Alabama this spring. Last year I saw ten one morning together and several more during the spring.

One thing I did notice this year in my travels. I saw four jakes in Louisiana that was the most mature that I have ever laid eyes on. They were definitely born very early in the spring. I also put my eyes on three in Missouri that caused me to spend an hour on them to get close enough to try and call them. Once I finally got to where I wanted to be I realized two of the three were jakes. They had thick beards that had to be 6 to 7 inches long. It wasn't until they turned side ways and started feeding that their posture told me they were jakes. The third gobbler was preening slighly below my line of site. He finally followed the other two. He was also a jake.
I know the length of the day is what starts the breeding. I've also heard and believe there can be up to a three varialtion due to weather. Maybe it's even longer than that...? Thoughts...?

It sounds like most folks have seen jakes. That's awesome.

I know the amount of jakes I saw here at home was unbelievable to me. Most folks I've talked to in Southwest Mississippi saw alot of jakes there also.

Didn't see any in Alabama but saw plenty in the other states I hunted.

I saw three in Mississippi. One was gobbling like the real deal and almost got shot.

Do you want to hear him gobble, or do you want to kill him.

Not one which is odd. But also didn’t see a lot of turkeys this year.

I always saw jakes in some hood numbed. The numbers fell off for about 10 years but seeing some recent groups again. Biggest group was 6 this year. 30’years ago I saw several groups for several years of 20-21 jakes opening week. By end of the season there’s about half that many.

I tmwbwr them well. They ran off a few longbeards I was working.

They remind me of those 2 yr old 8 pointers you never seem to see again

Plenty! Both at home and on the road. Jake sightings the past two springs have been A LOT better than the previous 5 springs.

Had 4 on our place (200 acres) all during deer season. Haven't seen them on camera or in person since February.

We had piles of them. Seven in one group harassing gobblers.

I didn't see any in Alabama, but I have never seen a jake on that property. But I always see a bunch of longbeards. We hunt it very lightly (killed one), so hopefully, that trend will continue. In Louisiana, I saw large gangs of jakes (11 in one group) throughout the season along with idiots who show up and drive across the place at 6:15 AM, which made it difficult to get on a good one. I did end up killing one turkey and missing another. In other travels, I saw lots of jakes.
