Fescue it doesn’t grow worth a crap this far south unless watered heavily and over seeded yearly.

Probably Kentucky bluegrass I was in Nashville and saw the same thing in January and figured it was Kentucky bluegrass seeing how it is often the sod of choice in colder climates. My sisters yard was full of it when she lived in Western New York. You shovel out two feet of snow and that grass was green as green can be.

Fescue. One of my neighbors has it and it looks great right now.
But in a couple months he will have to pour water on it to keep it alive.
There are some commercial developments on 280 in Birmingham that have Fescue. I'm sure it looks great now but it will really struggle in summer heat.

We maintained an apartment complex in Hoover that had it 20 years ago. It was a constant fight to keep the Bermuda from taking it over and it alive. When it’s healthy it looks great but our summers are no made for it.

I hate monoculture lawns.
We plant a clover blend. Green year round, the critters like it, and in an EOTWAWKI scenario, it's edible by humans also.
Not planning to graze outside now, but if they ain't no stores, a clover salad might not be too bad,
That’s actually becoming a thing, bee friendly lawns

I would bet that it was Bluegrass as mentioned above. I’ve seen a few BG lawns around here and they are absolutely gorgeous. Until the new wears off from the constant upkeep and irrigation. Then they die

up here in north alabama all the fescue is growing good right now. I plant alot of rebel which is darker green, but mostly what you see is kentucky 31 and it seems to do the best. all the fescue here goes just a little dormant in late summer, but comes back strong in fall. Yeah, fescue and similar grasses are looking great right now, especially if they've been fertilized . Then when it gets hot and dry , it gets looking ragged.
