Lost my pops last December before last and he had bought a Harley some 10 years ago. He wanted me to have it even though I’m not:

A. A motorcycle rider
B. In the Harley demographic

So I go up to Iowa after he passes and sure enough, there is a low mileage soft tail in his garage. I start planning to have it shipped down to me so I can figure out WTF to do with it but we never could find a title in his belongings. I reach out to Iowa DMV who says it was never registered in their state (that’s fine, he hadn’t lived there long and didn’t ride the bike) so I reach out to Wisconsin DMV where I find insurance flags and a lein holder (Harley Financial). Here we go. I call Harley Financial and ask what the payoff is and my knuckleheaded dad owed $14,000 on a damn motorcycle he barely rode. It was more than what the bike was worth by my estimates. I asked them if they were willing to negotiate it down to something more reasonable but they wanted full payment. I told them I’ll park the bike on the street in front of the house and gave them the address. Told them it wasn’t a good neighborhood so they’d better hurry because it might not last long. No clue if they found it.

And he called his Dad a knucklehead...

Sad but true and that was the only way out from that debacle.
It seems like a good idea at first but the fire fades fast
And you can’t give em away nowadays. I rode for years
Until neck and back problems forced me out .
I still look at them in the classifieds and folks are trying to get good money
For a bike that ain’t worth half of what they want .
Just another face of people living outside their means .

They need to switch to utvs. Very undersupplied market. Shoot a Rokon type deer dragger would sell too if they kept the price down.

Only time I ever called my Dad a dumbass was when he cut his finger off working on a hay mower while it was running. He agreed.
