do we know for sure that that ain't flex seal tape. be nice if they could reassure the passengers that that was flex seal tape and not duct tape.

Mrs. Irish and I realized many years ago that the glamor of air flight had long since passed. It's nothing but flying cattle cars now and has been for some time.

Frankly I'm surprised more don't just fall out of the sky. You have to credit the engineers for designing the planes super durable, because you know none of them are being maintained all that great at this point.

Didn't watch, but I think tape is sometimes the approved repair. Any pulots on this board?

Used to have to fly for work quite a bit, don't want anything to do with it anymore. i'll drive or just stay home. Like Brother Irish said, i'm surprised more don't tumble out of the sky.

No way any kind of tape would stay on being exposed to 500mph plus wind effects at altitude.

That's what I was thinking...after all, it is nicknamed 100 mile an hour tape, not 500 mile an hour tape.

experience is a freakin' awesome teacher....

Googled. Speed tape seems to be what is approved. Ain't exactly tape. When I used to travel a lot for work I saw. Boss was pilot. He laughed and told me I probably didn't want to know wjat was in the manuals. That's only reason I sort of recalled.

Spirit just replied that the tape was in fact speed tape specifically designed for aircraft. It’s normally applied to areas of peeling paint to prevent further damage. Who knew…

Lots of folks knew, even the girl in the video but no need to let facts get in the way.

Don't take that for me endorsing Spirit. You work around enough Aircraft Maintainers and you'd be shocked how one gets from the gate much less stays in the air.

That's what we call 100MPH tape. We used it to tape holes in our rotor blades if it was a sufficient temp repair to get home or to a safe landing area to swap a blade and do all of our track and balance and also the test flights.
Used it on the airframe as well. Basic aerodynamics won't allow it to peel off. It' can't hurt anything in a non critical area.
You can see the tape being applied to the blade. Just stand on the tail pylon on the H3 and easy -peasy

That's false LOL, That peeling tape doesn't hurt anything and if they're doing that the primary QA's are just ignorant. It's almost like a thin metal with adhesive more than your typical tape.
