We average 325-370k on them with very little issues and mine carry a couple tons with them everywhere they go. Don’t want anything else. Almost all of them get a transmission around 180k but other than that it’s brakes, tires, oil changes and the occasional coil

6.0 is a very dependable power house of a small block. The only downside is my 2014 2500 gets about 12mpg.

My BIL owns 2 6.0’s around those years. He says he’s happy with them and he’s driven them 250-300k miles and hoggin is correct. He’s put a transmission in both at around 200k miles. He says they’ll pull like crazy. Personally never owned one. Also says no matter how he drives it he gets 10mpg.

I have 03 gmc 2500 with 335k miles. original motor and transmission. Wouldn't trade it even for a new one. I recently saw one just like it for $5k more than I paid for mine 15 years ago.

I’d hate to think I was 16 and had to afford filling that thing up. Probably going to be 10 mpg with a young man driving it.

I get that, but sometimes kids make poor decisions and need guidance. Especially when decisions aren’t super easy to undo.

Don’t buy a Tacoma thinking it will get better mpg, 16-17 mpg.

Great engines. I drove one for 11 years. Gave it to my son who was commuting to college and after about a month he figured out he could outright buy a new civic with just the money he was saving on gas and have enough money left over for the fuel in the civic with some money left over. They love the gas.

My 04 Sierra 2500 has 260k on it. I've replaced or rebuilt about everything on...except the engine. I've had alot of electronic issues here and there. But when the electronics are working, it always cranks and runs. I had been chasing down a reduced engine code for a few years. Shop after shop said they fixed it. It took me replacing the throttle body harness to actually fix it. But that 02 should be drive by cable, not wire. It likes the gas, that's for sure. I get a consistent 11 mpg.

11 is what I got as well. Hauling a trailer you might get 10 , on the interstate you might get 12. Consistently drank the gas but other than putting a throttle body on the engine, that's all I ever did to it.

Mine probably don't get the 11mpg now. It had 3.73s. I put a different rear end with 4.10s in it and all I do is tow with it now. I don't even want to check mpg.

I had a 2003 Xcab. I was off road a lot back then for work and the damn thing killed my lower back. It was just a GM design in the lower part of the seat. Damn motors are beasts. I put a Hypertech programer on it and it only got 0.5 mpg better. Trans had sort of a jake break function going downhill. Good friend of mine bought one of the newer ones (2017 maybe) in a 4 door and loves it.

I love my 06 Sierra. It's definitely painful at the gas pump for me as a 16 year old, but totally worth it IMO
