Any herbicide that will kill basically everything including pine but not grass? Need to spray something on my dam now that I have it all cleaned up.

There’s a round up product you can spray on your lawn that will kill everything else. I use it.

Would 2-4 D work?

24-D I guess but it’s not going to get the pines. Our dam was pretty steep the first time after we bought it it was getting out of control. A guy came and did it with a skid steer mulcher. After that we were able to get 85% of it with the tractor and bush hog going down hill on it. It was a butt puckerer but best way I know of to keep the pines and sweetgums at bay.

Dicamba or Grazon P and D would be two good options.

Remedy will kill briars and woody plants w/o killing grass . 24D will get the weeds but you need more for trees and bushes

24d will kill small trees.

Grazon p and d will do it. Gotta use a surfactant.

This is the right direction. Triclopyr is effective on pine and moderately effective on oaks. Crossbow is 2,4-D plus Triclopyr and may be another good choice

Some good suggestions, but you will continue to fight those sweetgum and the best bet for this is Imazapyr (Arsenal).

Nothing will grow where you spray arsenal for 3 years.

That’s not entirely accurate. While it has a decent residual, it doesn’t last that long. If it did, the forestry folks would be super excited. I am also thinking of spot spraying the sweetgums to keep them under control. It is what I do at my place. I’ll mix a 1 liter spray bottle made for pesticides at 0.4% v/v and it does a good job. I’ve also sprayed 8 fl oz/A on Bahia grass and it tolerated it well back when I did cogongrass research.

Atrazine may do it.

Be careful around ponds too. I researched 2-4D last year to spray at my lake. One form is ok but one form is not. I do not remember which I bought. FYI

Looks like ester 2-4D is not safe for fish and acid/amine 2-4D is ok.

The Harper TSI mix, 50% Garlon 3A, 40% water, 10% Imazapyr mixed in that order (very important) is good on most everything I've tried it on. Mostly hack and squirt but I've also just cut small stems and applied to the cut.

I heard spike 80DF is pretty good.
