I hated to just cut and pile so I tried cutting to firewood length and splitting it. Green or dry I can’t do it. I don’t have a hydraulic splitter and I’m not investing in one. I’m now back to cut/drag/pile.

I've cut it and poplar for firewood when it was either dead or blown down. It does burn up quick but puts out quite a bit of heat in a wood stove. Certainly not the species you are looking for if cutting down a green tree.
