How do y’all feel about them? Never dealt with them living in Bama, and now they’re more common than Mocs, Pygmy rattlers, and copperheads for me. I haven’t dealt a lot with them but they seem fairly calm. I’ve researched where they don’t have to actually “chew”, but does anyone have first hand experience with how they strike?

I always heard that they are pretty calm unless you mess with them.

One of those live and let live deals.

Where in the world are you seeing that many coral snakes? I have seen one in my whole life.

You’ll be fine. They’re not aggressive and they’ve made huge advancements in the specific type of antivenin they treat those bites with now so severe injury and death is nearly nonexistent now.

I looked it up and stated fixed fangs in front and have to chew. I always thosuhht fixed fangs in back of mouth and had to chew.

I know I’m more scared of a Pygmy rattler. Then thangs are aggressive

Aside from in a terrarium on exhibit, I’ve only ever seen two coral snakes. One which had been run over by a logging truck(big sucker that was about 40” long) and one other that crawled out of an old boot while I was clearing decades old trash behind our camp. I’ve always heard they are docile and you have to just about make them bite you.

I’ve heard the same about being docile but I always thought they were a much smaller snake. Around 24-28” long and didn’t get much bigger. I don’t have anything to base that on I just didn’t think they got big. I’ve personally never seen one.

According to the web, the record for length is 47.5” but the average adult length is 20-30”.
When we found the road killed one, a fellow that had a LOT of years in the woods was surprised at its length. The one that crawled out of a boot just kinda slinked away. It was only maybe 15”. No attitude like a rattler or cotton mouth or even a king snake. But if they bite you, you might be done for.

Only one I've seen in my life was under a log in my firewood pile years ago. Not aggressive at all.

Life is a journey. Make sure and bring plenty of Beer.

My luck has been so bad lately, it could be raining pussies and I'd catch one with a dick broke off in it.

I had one fall out on me when i was climbing a tree in florida. I flicked it off of me with the bar of my saw. It didnt appear to be very aggressive. I worked with a guy once who flipped his safety belt up over a rotton stob on a pine he was climbing and pinned a copperhead, it bit him three times then cut its own head off striking at a running chainsaw. Ill take the coral snake
