Just sold a gun on gun broker…

The buyer had his guy send the ffl to me this afternoon. How do I go about shipping this gun? I know, wait till I get the money first but where do I get an estimated shipping cost and what are the steps involved? Who should I ship with etc? Thanks!

We hell sounds like something you should've researched first 😄 You have a UPS customer center (main store) near by?

I don't think so as long as you send to an FFL the way I understand it. I can do UPS ground since it's a long gun

May be wrong after looking more at their rules…

Nope. Now, the only way an individual can ship a long gun is through USPS. There is now no provision for an individual to ship a pistol. Fedex and UPS bowed to government pressure/threats toward the end of last summer, and now require you to be an FFL, with a signed contract on file with them to ship firearms.

You can, of course, have your local FFL ship for you.

My ups hub in Montgomery will not ship a gun unless you are a ffl holder. I suppose you could take it and drop it off not disclosing the contents but I wouldn’t chance it.

Wrong.

Shipmygun uses UPS.
Have to take it to a customer care center. Used to be one in Robertsdale, but for now the only one in my area is at Mobile.

You can use USPS if you have the FFL information and it’s a long gun.

This is correct, if it is a long gun. If a pistol, FFL to FFL. Simple really.

He's not completely wrong. If you carry a firearm to your local UPS here in Etowah Co. they won't ship it. They won't even ship scopes with rings attached to them. You have to carry it to the hub store for shipping and then it's a million questions.

For UPS, just schedule a pickup and your normal route guy will grab it, doubt he's gonna ask too many questions. I know mine doesn't.

I ship long guns via USPS Priority mail.

Handguns via UPS Overnite Saver but you have to drop it off at a distrubution center (not the UPS store or a Driver) and bring a copy of the buyers FFL with you. They like to have one to keep.

You can go online to various shipping services like PirateShip or Stamps.com, etc and save big over buying postage directly from the USPS or UPS. Just print it and tape it down to the box. You will need dimensions and weight for this.
