I always see my generation calling today's youth, soft. This is a prefect opportunity for that parent to teach some responsibility. If it were my kid he'd work it off and pay to fix it. Not because he did some horrible thing but because actions have consequences and he needs to learn to take responsibility for his actions. Even when it's a simple accident. If he is shielded from the consequences he learns nothing.

Did y’all miss where this kid is only ten years old? Big difference between that and fourteen.

This place is getting stale. Almost 2 pages complete and not a single post about going to the dad and KHASB.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

I think the responsibility falls on the adult, who let two unattended ten year olds swinging a bat next to their truck!

This, without a doubt.

If I'm being really, really honest...it probably depends on which kid hit my truck. Some kids need a lesson, so I'd want them to tell their parents. Other kids I'd probably see it for the accident it was, and let it go because the kid (if I'm right) would be crushed that he hit my truck.

Definitely.

Your kid breaks something and you find out, you pay for it. If the kid's old enough to be working and has money and can pay, he or she pays for it.

Doing the right thing isn't difficult.

I am wondering where your mancard is. Go down to the kids house with your son and show them the damage. If they offer to cover it, great, if they don't, use as a teachable momement for your son to find playmates with more morals and character. Turn it over to your insurance, and give them the parents info, and they will probably sue them.
