Serious question……let’s say by some miracle you find it after having the tank pumped. Would she even wear it again after knowing where it’s been?
100% she would After a truly thorough cleaning I suspect. That’s not as bad as swallowing a crown then having it put back in. Don’t ask me how I know. $100 better than $1000.

It is probably still in the sewer line (depends on location of the toilet and if it is downstream from other waste water sources). The main line from your house sits above the septic tank. Remove the lid from tank #1 and place a porous catch bag over the end of the pipe. Flush the system from the toilet to see if you can get it to fall into the catch bag. Use a hand held metal detector (Garret Carrot) to search the bag. It is at on end of the house and all other waste water sources are at the other end. As soon as it happened no water on the side where it happens was ran You could probably open the septic tank and put a catch mesh basket under the pipe and run water down the line and have a chance of flushing the ring into the basket. Other option is call the man with a camera and see what they can see/find. as stated above.

I'd call Austin Brennen with Mainline. $150ish and he can run a camera through the system and try to locate it, if it's still in the pipes. Otherwise you're gonna need a shovel, a bunch of buckets, wading boots and a strainer. Gonna suck to be you if it's not in the lines near the toilet.

Option 1 pull toilet or call a plumber and see if they have a camera Option 2 if not in toilet call the local turd wrestlers and pump the tank Option 3 go get another ring Option 4 — Get a new wife.

The original post said she was cleaning the bathroom, sounds like she is a keeper. Cooking and cleaning is hard to find their days, even with a stay at home wife.

It’s not going to be easy but at least you know it cant be far. It it was me, I would sacrifice the commode. I would take it off, take it outside and bust the bottom. If you look at the commode, it has a sorta trap built into it. There is a good chance it is sitting in that area. (Especially if you havent flushed it since it happened) Hammer the porcelain and pray it is sitting there. If not, take a flashlight and look down the drain to see if it’s sitting in the 90. If still no luck, the hard part starts. I had a situation kinda similar. I pulled the commode, ran a hose through the bathroom window and flushed the hell out of the line pushing it into the tank. I then dug the top off the tank, had a septic company start pumping the liquid out of the tank. Starting at the top to make sure to pull only liquid and working his way to the bottom. If it is in the tank, it has dropped to the bottom. Just make sure he is not getting close to the solids at the bottom. Once he gets the liquids out, I took a net and did the nasty part. Most septic tanks have a divider to separate the solids. It most likely is in that part. All this is not for the faint hearted, But with it being special to your wife, it is worth doing everything possible. Even if you cant find it, youve done everything possible. it was worth the trouble for me. I obviously am not fond of digging through chit, but my wife would walk through fire for me, I didnt mind.

Ha..It be my luck after I pulled the toilet then pumped out the septic and strained it, she would find it a week later in the side pocket of her purse.... well not exactly what happend... but pretty DAMN close. apparently it somehow came off her hand when she walking to her car after work and landed in the grass. She found the outer band on thursday morning next to where she parks at in some grass, BUT the maintenance man had cut grass before she got to work and the lower half of the inner band was found mangled up and no stones or upper half of the band to be found. Miraculously the outter band is not damaged a bit.

I would take what you got to the pawn shop or local coin dealer and get what you can for the metal tomorrow. Gold is currently running about $1990 a troy oz for 24kt. So 14kt, even mangled at about .25 ozt will still fetch you a couple hundred to put towards a new ring.
