A guy in our hunting club told me to do it when I was a teenager, but i didn't follow his advice. I used to have vivid memories of every kill but that's not the case anymore. Still remember many, but some have faded from my memory through the years.

Wish I had followed his advice....

We have done it for the last 10yrs. Wish I’d started it a long time ago.

I started my book in 1972. I lost a ton of pics. when our camp was burned, but I have the dates.

I used too. I used to count the deer on each hunt. At the end of the season I'd have a total of how many bucks/does, how long it took to see a buck vs doe, how many hours it took to kill a buck vs. a doe, weather conditions, ect. Life got in the way and didn't do it as much. I sure wish I had. I've got some racks that I can't recall exactly when or where they were killed.

For years I kept a Journal of each hunting season on my desktop computer. Haven't done it for years now though.

Used to enjoy reading about a season from years ago. Brought back the memories I'd forgot about.

Life is a journey. Make sure and bring plenty of Beer.

My luck has been so bad lately, it could be raining pussies and I'd catch one with a dick broke off in it.

I used to keep it on paper. Every one I’ve ever killed I know in my head can tell you when where and how I killed everyone of them.

I started mine in 1968 when I was 17, it has around 500 entries.

I've kept up with the numbers on all species plus the species I've taken and fish I've caught. I've not kept as details records as you though and I wish I had.

We log all hunts, deer seen, weather, stand location... we log the kills in a separate part of the "camp book". Goes back many years.
best take away- stand pressure and similarities in weather for buck kills. good info and interesting reading.

I keep a log of every deer hunt ive been on since i was probably 14 years old, where/when/time/does/bucks/kill or not.

I also have a log of every single deer and turkey i have killed in my life. A lot of people make big claims about how many animals they have killed but it takes a lot of time and work to break 100 deer and probably 3 divorces to hit 100 turkeys. i log when/where/size/distance/weapon etc. Its a really cool thing to have and look back on

I've kept a record of all mine. Date weapon location and anything special. Nice to look back and reflect on happy memories.😊

I kept up with the number of deer killed with a bow in written in my Bible. When I cover the back pages with entries I quit writing them down. I honestly have no idea how many deer and turkey I have killed over the years, but I used to really be mad at em'. I keep the spent cartridge when I kill a deer now and I write info on it. It doesn't go into the reloading pile. I use a black marker and it stays on the brass forever.

I kept up with it for about 25-30 years, mostly to best determine what times I killed deer. Kept up with time, weather, sex of deer, and location. Stunning the number of deer I've killed between 9:30 and 11:00 AM, particularly since I was obsessive about being settled before dawn and hunting late afternoons.. Over the last decade or so, I care less and less about killing deer, so i finally threw out the spreadsheet. Don't know how many I've killed now, and would be hard pressed to even give you an accurate count over the past 5 years. Still hunt a lot, and still kill a fair amount of deer. Just don't obsess over numbers, or even size.
