Besides cables and similar stores what are the best outdoor stores in Huntsville/Madison?

Cabels and Academy is all there is in Huntsville other than a few high priced shops at Bridge Street, Alabama Outdoors in Jones Valley and REI. There is a newer store in Athens called Winter Timber Outdoors but I've never been in it. Your best bet for hunting, fishing and gun stuff is Vann's in Cullman.

Wow that surprises me. I figured there had to be a couple Marks/Nichols/Simmons type stores

More of a gun store but , I'd hit Larry's in Madison. Much better than the Huntsville location. Larry has a lot of his personal stuff on display too.

Yeah unfortunately in Huntsville, mom & pop got priced out of commercial real estate years ago. Don’t get me wrong, there’s still local businesses but it’s mostly breweries, restaurants and boutiques.

Winter Timber outdoors in Athens is a good spot. Kenny Winters the home builder owns it.

As Just an Illusion said, the best outdoor store north of Dodge City is hands down Van’s. Great people, huge selection and their prices aren’t crazy

You know I haven't thought about it , you're right. Back in the day there was Wiley's , it was a good outdoor store .

Used to have Wileys and JC's guns too.

REDSTONE Pawn off of North Parkway has a few guns, but no other outdoor stuff.

There’s a store called Mr Big Guns in the old JC’s building. I haven’t been in there, but I’ve seen a few posts about them.

Tuckers Gun and Pawn in Priceville is worth checking out.

It weren’t Mrs. Wiley that jacked that place up. It was that boy of hers that took it over and ran it into the ground.

Huntsville doesn't have good outdoors stores like Mark's or Simmons.

Winter Timber in Athens has all of the Sitka gear you want if that's what your looking for.

Vans in Cullman is a very good store and seems to be doing very well as a business. As complete of a hunting, shooting and fishing store you will find in Alabama. Was in there late yesterday and it was packed.

Not in Huntsville, but Big Daddy's Outdoors in Bridgeport might have what you're looking for.... wink

There's more to it than that, far more, but things changed.

If you need things that go bang, Larry's. If you need archery stuff, Full Draw or Custom Archery Center. Or head to Big Daddy's or Van's or the one in Athens.
