Sitting in a house on the edge of a clearcut watching a field in front of me. We have another field to the north about 500yds where I can barely see the corner. Of course, I’ve seen a handful of deer in there already and squat in the one I’m hunting. Luck of the draw, I reckon…

Got up at 4:00 am and radar showed heavy rain all morning - got up real late for me - 7:30 and had not rained - I head to big field - 3 does and large body buck w crap rack w them n field - one of them sees me 100 yards from field and they all bolt
Get settled in blind - now it’s raining hard 🤣🤣 typical 😀

Haven’t seen hide nor hair of a deer this morning. I can hear some loggers in this distance cutting on some Westervelt lease land next to us. Gonna take the long walk back to the truck and ease around our new cutover see if I can spot any sign. Gonna run to Aliceville and get some jacks and decide what the weather is gonna do. I have no desire to get soaking wet this afternoon.
Workin for the man, huntin when I can.

Just watched a 3yo 8point walk the bench below me. Just not big or old enough, but he did exactly what I need to happen, just needed a bigger one to do the same thing.
