Has anyone seen much chasing? I’ve seen a few smaller ones but not any of the bigger ones doing anything. I am hunting on the Russellville/Barbour county line.

For rut timing, Russell/Barbour Co line close to the river is quite different from the county line farther west between Spring Hill and Hurtsboro.

Take a look at that area in this pdf. Isn't not perfect but it is fairly accurate.

Mature buck chasing last weekend, mature buck chasing off other bucks and locked down with a doe yesterday next to a green field. In between Eufaula and Clayton

Chasing this AM. Most mature does have separated from their yearlings which is another positive sight.

West Central Barbour appears to be on schedule. Since Friday, we have seen multiple instances of bucks following and harassing does, separation of older does and yearlings, and scrapes beginning to show up. Bigger bucks are on their feet and walking. I watched a 4+ year old shooter walking in the wide open yesterday. Not in a hurry, just nose to the ground walking. Watched another 8 point make a scrape. End of week should be good.

We are 8 miles west of Eufaula on Hwy 82. Our best rutting activity and kills are from Jan 3 - Jan 14. Club killed 5 bucks last week but this last weekend was really slow. If you want to check them out our FB page is Big Branch Hunting Club.

They are starting to get sure enough after it here just west of Clayton to east of Clio. I’ve never seen the size bucks get killed in Clio like I have over the last 2 days. I’ve seen 4 decent bucks chasing in the last 2 mornings feeding cows, if you have land around 5 points(SW Barbour) it’s time to be in the woods.

There’s some dang fine deer where you used to hunt. I used to live there in Batesville, across from the sod farm on 79.
