Well lets see...Ya got yer' junk firewood. Ya got yer' slightly green firewood. Ya got yer' slightly damp firewood. Ya got yer' starting size firewood. Ya got yer' well cured firewood. Ya got yer' easy to come by small round firewood. But for these mornings, ya need to break out your primo slab firewood. A piece you would normally split, but for mornings like these. I love to have some nice piles out of the weather. It's like money in the bank except better.

I bought a load last week. I’d have gotten more satisfaction from throwing that $80 in the fireplace and lighting it on fire. It was seasoned alright, to the point of near rotten.
If anyone has a lead on some GOOD firewood in Jefferson/Shelby county area, which is what I would call seasoned AND dry, please let me know.
Ya'll are just overthinking it now

Nothing fancy here. Just plain old white/red oak and hickory. Years past, oak, hickory, cherry, locust, ash, even crab apple for a year (it’s the shucks if you can split it). Haven’t ran a non-wood heat source since 2005
It’s pretty warm. 74 degrees in the house this AM but I was lazy and only fired at 9pm the night before.
Cut all my own. Probably have $100 a year in it for chains, fuel, oil, beer, etc

Calms the mind and soul when I’m cutting firewood. The heat in the winter, the great campfires with others or alone with nature and my maker, and saving on fuel bills is just bonus points.

I live in a 1680 sq. foot log Cabin and heat exclusively with the largest "Buckstove Brand" Wood Heater that they make (Up to 24" wood will fit). I built a splitter on a three-point hitch that runs off the tractor. I love to rebuild/make run Vintage Chainsaws. They're all BIG/Heavy built in the 70's/early 80's. A Gear Drive Homelite and a McCulloch....both have bow Bars. 2 Midsize Pioneers----one with Bow Bar and other with straight Bar. Haul quite a bit of tree length on a 24 foot trailer from Building Sites around Auburn....Bring home...cut to length....split and stack under pole barn. Also sell some along the way. Hickory....Pecan....Red Oak....Water Oak. Find "Fat Lighter" stumps in the woods and split them for kindling. I'm semi-retired and it's fun/enjoyable/gratifying work to me......

My dad had some of them old saws. He bought a new Stihl 044 and we upped our firewood game. Sold and traded a bunch of it for hunting rights or sold the loads and put it towards hunting. When I was growing up, that’s how we got to hunt and go on hunting and fishing trips was side jobs. Cutting grass, firewood, and working for some farms.
