Small doe, but bigger than kid who shot it. No bullet to show. Never have caught one, not even from several year old buck or large hog.

Yep. I’ve killed a pile of hogs with the Grendel. Some 123 SST, 123 ELD and 95 Vmax. SST absolutely stoned a big boar at 150 yards.

Seriously considering adding one in a bolt action.

"Cull" is just another four letter word...

I killed quite a few deer with my Grendel and it always performed well. I shoot the 120gr fusions and they always leave a good wound channel. They are getting scarce and I have a good supply of the SSTs for back up so that’s good information there. My 6.8spc has had excellent results with the SSTs on the few deer and hogs I’ve killed with it.

My 129grn accubond long range handloads do the same thing. Those SST’s are nasty and are my second choice 👍

Check out this guy, https://www.youtube.com/@CarpeSus, if you haven't seen any of his videos. Smokes some hogs with his Grendel and tests different bullets. He often does an amateur necropsy to show real world bullet performance. And, the dude can shoot.

My results with SSTs in general have varied. This particular factory load has been reliable. I think they (wife and son) have killed about eighteen deer with that load so far.

Glad you had good results! I’ve found they are too fragile out of my 7mag. They are a great whitetail bullet as long as you don’t push them at magnum speeds.

I agree with Forrest, just like the nosler ballistic tips the SST’s performed best for me at slower speeds. At faster speeds (2900+) they are to explosive for my taste. But in the grendal range they are a fine bullet

That’s funny, only deer I’ve shot with the SST was 150 grain 7 mag. Bullet went through both shoulders and deer plowed about 25 yards. Looked like a golf ball sized hole on opposite side shoulder. I guess I just got lucky. 🤷🏿

All SSTs are not made the same. The example bullet was designed specifically for the Grendel.

A manufacturer can tell you what to expect with a specific bullet if you tell them how you will use it. If it does not behave as they say, then I would suspect a QC issue, rather than the design. If you loaded a bullet meant for 6.5 PRC in 6.5 Grendel, don't blame the manufacturer when you need a tracking dog and vice versa; horses for courses as they say.

What? So if I buy a box of pills for a 6.5, I need to call the manufacturer to make sure they are for a Grendel?

You do need to verify the part # vs intended use, as all 6.5s aren’t intended for the same use, in all 6.5s…..same as the 110 Accubond in 6.8…..helluva deer/hog bullet in the 6.8. In a 270 win or 6.8 western, it’s probably only suited for coyotes. Never could get 220 speers to expand at 35 Rem velocities….because they were made for whelen speeds and BIG game bones. It’s also why ELD-Ms work very well with the 6.5 Grendel (123?) AND the creedmoor (140/147) on deer…but not usually anything much faster.

So is everyone hunting with the Grendel in an AR platform or a bolt action. I’ve been looking for a decent one in an AR platform but don’t want to spend 2k on something like that.

Only accurate rifles are interesting.
