Got out to Mullberry this afternoon for the primitive weapons hunt.

Had a blast and saw 6 deer total. Really waffled on taking a crockpot yearling, but ultimately decided to pass. Had fun watching it be goofy as hell. Eventually it wandered off. Had it dead to rice at 43 yds. A couple of times I thought I saw some small spike antlers and just couldn't chance it. The other deer seen were does that never closed the gap. I have a self-imposed flintlock limit of 75 yds.

Saw some stray dogs running deer on the opposite side of the river...hope that buck made it he was a good one.

If you're running the river when it's dark, be damn careful. There's all kind of debris in the water after all the rain we've received.

Keep yer powder dry!
