What about CHRISTmas? Had a great sermon last night from a visiting preacher. His headline was Merry CHRISTmas.

if I take a coke and put a Pepsi label on it does that make it a Pepsi? the jesuit counter reformation was very successful. you have protestant churches teaching catholic doctrines.if christmas was really about the God of the universe do you think the whole world would celebrate it? did you know that the pilgrims who were separatist and Bible believing Christian's did not celebrate Christmas? they wanted nothing to do with paganism and witchcraft. it is the worship of saturnalia. Catholicism is another form of the babylonians religion.God is always calling His children out of babylon.

So you’re saying that the group of people who burned women at the stake in New England because they thought they were witches are who we should follow for our lead on holidays? Just making sure I’m tracking

I knew this post would eventually devolve into this discussion, that somehow Christmas is un-Christian and if you don’t think so you’re not enlightened on pagan traditions.

I guess we all know Easter is a pagan tradition too right? How many folks here cook out on Labor Day? It has socialist roots. Y’all don’t even want to know the roots of the symbolism behind spires like the Washington monument.

My point is at no point in my family’s history has this holiday been about commercialism or paganism. We’ve always celebrated the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ. If some of you think that makes me a heathen because I have a tree in my living room and watch Home Alone a couple times in December I just don’t think I’m going to lose too much sleep over it.

Y’all have a MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

I had comments to add but I think I'll refrain because I could see this turning into a big ole internet brawl and a locked thread. That's no good for any of us, especially pertaining to our core beliefs. Everyone has to do what they believe to be right. They, and they only, are responsible for claiming their own salvation. My comments could maybe help somebody, or they could turn out to be a stumbling block to others so I deleted them.

When we’re at Christmas Eve communion or Sunday morning service on Christmas morning, I’ll make sure to tell our pastor that we shouldn’t be there because some dude on Aldeer says that we’re heathens for celebrating Christmas…

My family did the same thing. Christmas was magical. Christmas still is magical. My 3 kids are adults now but we did our best to make it special for them! This included me putting together toys until 2am Christmas Eve. I feel bad for anyone who didn’t have that type of Christmas growing up.
I can still remember the smells and sights of Christmas as a child.

lol

I'm already on my pastor's naughty list for the whole science is not the devil thing, so I better not push it. But that would be funny.

Lighten up Francis!

I am a born again Bible believer as well!

The meaning of Christmas and the magic of Christmas are two different things and it is not hard to teach your children the whole truth! It is very possible to celebrate a Christian Holiday and still get wrapped up in the festivities! Yes, I do not like the marketing of Christmas just to make a buck but I love the lights, songs, movies and more!

As an Bible believer you should know that it is one of the best opportunities you will be given to tell every non-believer about who Jesus is and what he did for us! All the songs, all the festivities, and everything should be to celebrate him! Our one true risen King! What a great opportunity it truly is!

Do you ever read anything other than Revelation 18? You've somehow turned multiple threads into a discussion on the "mystery of Babylon", at least that's where I'm assuming you are going to take this. I just don't think God is talking about me giving my daughter presents when he tells us to flee from wickedness.

But what do I know. I have Harry Potter on the TV right now.

big bore made my point. talking about the magic of Christmas. its witchcraft. can u guys show me in the scripture where Christ himself or the apostles said we are to celebrate His birthday. I'm not trying to be controversial I have done hundreds of hours of study on this stuff and I know the truth. men love darkness rather than the light.like i said the jesuit counter reformation was very successful. there is a lot of catholic doctrine that is not biblical being taught by protestant preachers. I'm just trying to challenge you to truly study the word of God not just a cursory reading.

You do realize when people refer to the “magic of Christmas”, they’re not talking about actual magic, right?

To suggest that celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ somehow equates to participating in witchcraft is ridiculous.

When I was a child I believed in Santa as I grew older I came to realize that any person who is loving, kind and giving embodies the spirit of Santa. Santa is not a person but a spirit and each and everyone of us can embody that spirit this time of year. Whether you buy presents for your kids, friends or the stranger on the street it does not matter.

But who prays for Satan? Who, in eighteen centuries, has had the common humanity to pray for the one sinner that needed it most?

Mark Twain

Not only that but taxes in Bethlehem were not paid in December. It’s very unlikely Jesus was born in December. Much more likely to have been spring. But that’s not to say we can’t celebrate his Birth at that point in time.

Y'all don't start that Santa ain't real crap. I know better.

Ive never understood how "Christians " can get so wrapped up in christmas and Easter but most of them don't celebrate Pentecost or even know what it is.
