Yes it’s legal though uncommon. The article says the sheriff authorized it legal to kill. All the red stag I know of in the state are at high fence places and it sounds like this one escaped. I know the one time I’ve been to one it was deer season and red stag was in season but not positive they have the same exact season. I asked about game check and since it’s at high fence places and privately managed you didn’t have to game check them or the whitetails from what I got out of the conversation but it’s been a few years. Watched a little girl with a little cricket looking 22 mag kill a big red stag doe off the porch of the lodge of the place.

I have asked the Chief Enforcement Officer with the G&F and he told me that any member of the deer family is legal in Alabama, so if you see a Stag, Moose, Elk or Caribou, shoot it if you want
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

I tracked a deer in Rock Mills earlier this year and the hunter was telling me about that thing running around up there. I'm surprised it made it this long
