I like the Voodoo Ranger.....It dranks pretty good......There's a lot of local choices on the shelf too. Good People IPA can be bought at most big stores, it has a
Very strong grapefruit finish is what I get with most IPA’s.
The voodoo Rangers are pretty good too.
Fairhope Causeway IPA is in my top 2 though. Every now and then Walmart will have it.

Because of its availability and quality Good People IPA is a standard. You can find it just about anywhere local. Snake Handler is another good local IPA but isn’t as easy to find.

Here’s a tip if you are just getting into craft beer. Get the Untappd app. It’s sort of like a beer Instagram but the best feature about it is you can keep track of all the different beers you try. It also allows you to rate them. It was very helpful for me getting started.

I’ve tried dozens of IPA’s. I just can’t acquire the taste for it. And that Snake Handler is about 10% ABV. Don’t take too many of those to get you where you want to be.

Devils harvest IPA is the best one I’ve ever had, BUT it is on TAP where I get it. May be why I’m partial to it.

If you’re close to Cullman I’ll also give a nod to Goat Island Brewery. They have one called Big Bridge IPA that is solid. Not as easy to find but the GI footprint is growing.

A lot of people don’t like grapefruit, and IMO if you don’t, you won’t like IPA. Every one I’ve ever drank has that taste to it, some more than others, some smoother. I gave my wife a sip In a restaurant and I thought she was going to throw up.

Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA is as good as it gets imo. Many IPAs now days are the “juicy” versions which are way out of balance. A good IPA should have plenty of malt to offset the hop bitterness.

I’m partial to Cigar City Jai Alai from Tampa. Oyster City has an Apalach IPA as a standard and a good mix of smaller batch options but you’ll only find those on tap. The Voodoo Ranger is pretty good as well. I don’t much care for many of the hazy IPAs.

It’s weird. The first IPA I tried was a seasonal called Accumulation. It was like someone sprayed potpourri in my mouth. I couldn’t finish it. I stuck to porters and brown ales for about a year after that. Then out of the blue I started craving an IPA even though the only one I’d ever tried disgusted me. Now that’s about the only beer I drink.

Same here. I just haven’t tried any I like.

I haven’t found a beer that I like until recently. I’ve like ciders in the past but I’ve found I like sours. Other than that I HATE beer.
