Last night’s buck

Turned into a whole heap of good meals

Finally got him processed and about to go into the freezer. It’s work, but man is it worth it!

I always feel like an idiot when I see a guy take a pic with a good buck in khakis or jeans and a regular everyday shirt. I buy all this camo and stuff and can’t kill one. 😂

Looks very professional but I gotta ask. What are the two light colored cuts in the back pan on the right. I feel like I already know but just curious.

Those there are the Rocky Mountain oysters. Tried them last year and they come with me out of the woods every time.

I’ve got a small pile to grind from this deer, still have some from last year.

The rest of the smaller pieces and smaller roasts have been cut into medium cubes, going in the pressure canner tonight. If you haven’t tried canning some deer it is totally worth your time.

Everything is vacuum sealed and in the fridge to rest tonight - on to the freezer tomorrow. Canning is waiting until dark, I’m sitting in the woods seeing if I can catch a yote going to the gut pile.

Slice them and fry them up.

The real key is removing all the membrane layers on the outside, otherwise they end up like rubber bands.

Really they’re surprisingly good.

What about during the rut when they’re, you know, juicy?

Razor, we need to make a deal, I'll kill them and you butcher them and return 1/3 back to me. I'll even let you have the nuts. grin

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

Ain’t no way I’m putting nuts in my mouth. Even if they are from a deer.
