Anybody got a son (or daughter) participating? Son decided to compete his senior year in between football and soccer (which he’s played all his life). We’re at a wrestling tournament today and tomorrow in Mobile (Gulf Coast Clash). We have a couple up in N AL later in year (Piedmont and Centre?). Speak up if we’ll be at one any of y’all will attend.

He had his first live match last week at Robertsdale. He’s enjoying it so far. We are too. Very entertaining to watch.

my Grandson Dylan wrestles, 190 class. Sometimes up above that. Pretty good wrestler too.

I have three boys that all wrestle for Chelsea high school. They also wrestle during the off-season for Ironclad wrestling club. My oldest son will graduate this year and has an offer from Montevallo where he will wrestle for them starting next year. What school does your son wrestle for? We are hosting a home tournament this weekend. The gulf coast clash is a tough tournament. I know lots of really good wrestlers there. Good luck to your son and I hope he has a great season.

Must not be an official match. No way you make weight.

Get him to check out the Outdoor Scholars Program at Montevallo. It’s incredible.

My son competes in the 124lb class tomorrow in Hayden. It should be rather interesting since he was talked into joining the team 10 days ago 😂😂. He’s had a couple years of jujitsu training but this is gonna be entertaining for me and stressful for momma 😂😂

Who is your son? My boys all train there too and my oldest is 160 as well. I’m sure they work out together some.

Mine wrestles for Satsuma High. He went 1-1 yesterday. Lost first one. His team has done fairly well. I wish like hell he’d started this 4-5 years ago. He’s plenty strong and reasonably athletic (got that from his mom) but this seems to be about 80% technique and 20% strength. He gets better with every match but he could really be good if he knew more and had more experience. Lots of other new kids as well though. It all evens out. He wrestles in the 182 weight class.

That’s awesome. I hope he enjoys it. It’s the best sport ever to me.

Well mine got beat in both matches. But we expected it as that was his first to ever see and compete in. He didn’t make it easy on the competition though lol.

My boy will be in HS next year. He's a bit late to sports - but he just finished wrestling season today. It was his first time. It is a hell of a time commitment for him and us. Wish there was more action for all the investment. We sat a tournament a few weeks ago for damn near 8 hours to watch him wrestle a total of 4 times. Wrestling is new to me but it seems like a good thing. They shake hands, fight like hell, then shake again. Out here they go shake with the opposition's coach and then their own too.

Same here except 2 matches in 7 hours. 14 hour day for my son though. He was whipped when he got home. And I’ll say this. I was really impressed with the sportsmanship I saw today. No showboating no celebrating. Shake hands with opponents, their coaches and go sit down. Saw lots of class today.

JoshM28 where did your son wrestle today? Mine went 2-2 over two days. Finished 19th in his weight class. Wasn’t too bad I thought for that to have been 4 of his first 5 matches ever.

I grew up wrestling for Prattville, and have wrestled all over the country in tournaments/camps. I'd be dead or in prison if it wasn't for the discipline I got from wrestling. Best sport ever
