Congrats again, those are some mighty fine bucks you got there. Amazing that this all happened in a two day period. 30’ is quite high, I’d be interested in hearing your thoughts and experience on hunting that high. A fall from 10' (maybe less than that) will kill a man. So what's the difference between 10' vs. 20' vs 30'? At least from a fall perspective? I always wear a safety harness and tie off. The only thing extra about climbing higher is making sure the tree will allow it, plus getting the stand adjusted correctly for the height I plan to hunt at BEFORE I start climbing. Adjusting the top section of a climber is obviously easy, and can be done very simply and quickly (note that I only use Summit Viper's and Goliath's, and there are NO PINS that can be dropped). What I won't ever attempt is to adjust the bottom section while I'm in the tree. That's a recipe for disaster waiting to happen. So when I start climbing, the bottom section is at a fairly steep tilt, but as I climb and the tree diameter gets smaller the bottom section angle works itself out nicely. The view at 30' is nice!
