What is everbodys favorite scope? i'm looking to upgrade my current Nikon Prostaff on my 30-06. I want a decent scope but also don't want to break the bank. My longest shot is 225 yards with several being under 100 yards.

None illuminated for the ranges you mentioned Leupold VXIII 2.5-8X36. I have one I sent back to Leupold and had heavy Duplex installed. I just mounted a VX-R 2-7x33 with Duplex and dot I think I'm gonna really like.

Don't get caught up in a high power range , big objective Hubble . Look for quality glass with a simple deer killing reticle.

Depends on your price range.

If you’re willing to spend up to $1500 I like the Schmidt Bender Klassik

Up to $750 a Vortex Viper HS is hard to beat.

If you don’t want to spend over $500 the Leupold VX series is good for the money

My favorite is a Zeiss Victory Diavari T* 3-12x56. I have the same scope that Cuz-Pat mentioned and it’s a fine piece of glass also.

Athlon Ares. I believe it's like 4.5-27x50.

Current favorite is a Leupold VX5HD 2-10x42 with the fire dot reticle.

Honestly with shots less than 250 yards a good fixed 4x would be sufficient. Plus they typically are a little brighter due to less glass in the internals. If I’m going to the woods I want a low power scope. Big 4-16x50mm are made for food plots, cutovers etc. my woods gun has a 1.5-6x42mm Schmidt Bender on it.
