I just started a daily multivitamin, turmeric, and glucosamine chondroitin complex. Hoping itll help. My joints are starting to ache.

Creatine... I had never thought about that, but it makes sense. I was thinking about starting to take it anyway to help with my lifts.

I'll check it out and give some unbiased feedback.

If you're taking creatine, make sure you increase you water intake by about 50% daily. There are conflicting studies that it might or might not affect your kidney and liver function but most say it is fine in healthy individuals. It absolutely helps with recovery but I do increase my water intake just to make sure I am flushing it through my system.

What brand are you taking?

I just take sixstar creatine x3 from Walmarks. The bottle says to take more than I do. I take a pill with breakfast and a pill with supper. I’m not “stacking” before or after workouts.

i’m only 40 but i have the miles of a 60 year old. i went full carnivore on june 1. 3-4 weeks in there was a significant drop in aches and pains. 2 months in there are none. i’ve slowly started adding back in different things over the last 2 weeks. potatoes, bread and pasta 100% result in several days of aches. i take tumeric as well and a plethora of other vitamins.


Give me bout 15 more minutes, I was dreamin about beavers..........

Mid 40s here. Sprained my 1 good ankle pretty bad last fall cruising timber. Took a while to totally recover from that even with phy therapy. As a result, I stopped walking and jogging in the evenings until this may. Boy, was it an eye opener how quickly a middle aged body goes down the tubes. I really just am getting back to the level I was prior to the sprain. Minor aches and pains are the norm... just have to loosen up before much of anything physical. Being a forester helps, as some of my work requires a good bit of walking.

Kids in sports, job with decent travel amounts, and other commitments makes exercising a chore to find time to do. Most of the time I jog/walk around the neighborhood in the evenings. I gave up on weights years ago, so I mainly stick with cardio. It helps, and my blood pressure is in good shape with no pharmaceutical assistance but I'm still overweight and likely my cholesterol is high. What I'm able to do is good, but it never seems like enough.

I unLoaded a pallet of corn, filled 6 feeders, moved a 14’tripod by myself, took down and put up a ladder stand in the last two days. I’ll feel it for a week, but I can still do it. Over the years I’ve started and stopped regular exercises, but simple push ups, sit ups and lunges have helped me more than anything without tearing something.

At one point I was doing 2-3 miles/day on the treadmill (alternating walking/jogging) and I was doing 100 pushups, situps and squats every day....best I'd felt in a long time. Quit when I broke my arm (couldn't do pushups anymore or run on treadmill)...starting to try to get back into it

Lifting weights makes me get bulkier and stiffer.......One of the things I struggle with is flexibility......I think for me personally doing something like yoga is a more effective way of "staying in shape"

A high energy dog is an awfully good motivator. We do 3-4 miles every morning, just to keep him from driving me nuts during the day. Started me walking about 12 years ago, and helps to maintain the pattern. If I slack off, I feel it quicker, and it takes longer to get my wind back every time.


Used to be a lifeguard, until that blue kid got me fired.

69 here. Used to lift heavy, real heavy, but not anymore.
Double hernia and bad shoulders stopped the heavy stuff.
I try to get 2 miles a day walking and lift weights 3 days a week.
But I do a lot less weights and use dumbbells.
Seems the barbell (strait bar) would kill my shoulders.
Not so with dumbbells. Easier range of motion.

I did P90X for 5 years and was in the best shape of my life. Went through my divorce and haven't done much for the last 7 years. I've just recently started P90X again at age 52. It's tough but it's a total body workout and has proven its benefits to me before. My knees, hips and other joints don't like it and I can't get after some of the exercises like I did before my divorce, but I do what I can do and am starting to see improvements. Main thing is I feel better.

Swing a golf club for upper body flexibility. Seriously it works and you can do it in your yard. I started a pretty religious workout program last August. Today was my 212 workout (weights) in 14 months. Coupled with cardio I have lost 34lbs and down to about 12% body fat. At 43 I’m stronger than I’ve ever been in my life. But…..I’ve had to modify a lot of lifts due to tendinitis in shoulder and elbows. Keep taking the supplements but I’ve is your friend for the joint issues (if it’s tendinitis). It’s the only thing that really helps me. Anti inflammatories kill my stomach so I tread lightly.

And I’ll add A LOT of lower back issues can be alleviated with hamstring stretches. Tight hamstrings will absolutely cause SI discomfort. Deadlifts help me keep those stretched pretty well.

If you pace yourself, do what you can do, you'll slowly increase and build up to more and more. I like what the trainer Tony Horton says, "do your best and forget the rest" and "just keep pushing play" or " Rome was not built in a day".

I'm not and never tried to work so hard to look like those muscled up guys. I just do it for my health, my results are just a leaner body, some definition, stronger, more energy, and so forth.

But either way it is still a tough workout.
