Or maybe I’m just worse at fishing than turkey hunting. I’ve fished 3 different lakes in the past week. Fished deep, fished shallow, fished structure, ledges, grass lines, creek mouths. I’ve tried worms, lizards, crank baits at various depths, spinner baits, jigs….nothing. I can’t even catch them anything on live minnows.

Down size bait and line. If your using 20lb test and 6-8” worms down size to 10lb test and use 4” stuff. See if that helps.

Make some jugs and strictly catfish. It’s more enjoyable for me that way and I always seem to catch at least 1. I also keep an ultralight rod in the boat rigged with a bobber and worms to catch bream. You’ll be surprised at how many other fish will nibble on your worm while you wait.

Ended up catching 2 little bass right before dark, near the ramp. Caught them on a 1/4oz rooster tail. Only 2 bites all afternoon

Bass will make you mad if you dont have the time to put into catching them. Maybe you should explore other options. To me, catching fish is catching fish. I go after what i know i can catch.

I was mainly trying for bass or crappie today but at this point I don’t care what I catch….just wanna hook into some something. Cats would be great too.

I could tell you where to go and catch catfish 100% of the time. Sometimes 50-100 in a couple hours. Most of the time catch 2 or 3 over 20lbs. I could tell you exactly where to go and how to catch them. But its probably over two hours from northport. Im going Wednesday. I dont get to fish alot these days. I dont prefer to catch catfish. I dont mind catching them. The main thing is, i want to catch fish if i go fishing and i know they are piled in there waiting to be caught. So, thats where i go this time of year. In another month or so, ill start going somewhere else.

I might be completely wrong since I haven’t been able to go yet this fall, but…. I’d bet you could drive to Guntersville and fish below the dam and catch White Bass until your arm got tired. I’d imagine that you could do that in the tail race below any dam on the TN River but I’ve never fished any others.

Are you dragging a Tournament Pro Dropshot Rig like I posted a few months ago? They seemed to quit hitting it when the water got hot, but they are back to tearing it up now. I changed my rod setup; put a baitcaster on a flyrod and now I can get it further away from the boat. An unplanned bonus is that it seldom gets hung up now. Any time the bait or weight gets caught on something I can pick up the rod and move the tip backwards and get it loose. The long flyrod lets me maneuver it around cover without hanging it.

I think you could rig one to work on your kayak. The ones you catch are like free fish.

They aren't picky. I usually use a white, pearl, or smoke, 2" curl tailed grub. If they're in there, it's not hard to catch 50 and it's not unusual to catch 100.

Man..right now is about one of the easiest times of year to catch fish..if you wanna catch a big bass..go buy you a cast net..learn how to throw it..chase down a school of shad an cahtch you some bout 3-5in long…an just pitchem weightless around a bridge somewhere…i like to use offset shank worm hooks..bout a number 3 gmakatsu is my favrit..see ac870..hes been doin it
