Anybody ever had one that just loves to chew through belts?? Bet I’ve replaced the belt 10 times over the last 2 years.

No , I haven't. Sounds like you have a bent pulley or warped shaft . Throwing belts at it isn't fixing the real problem.

There is a pulley that is on a rod on the top of the deck. Those rods will bend and it puts the pulley on a slight angle and it will eat up the belts.

bad bearings in any of the pulleys is the usually the cause, spin each pulley and if one is too free, loose, or locks up then that is your problem.

Make sure there isn’t a piece of stick, pine comb or sweet gum ball in a pulley also.

Just an fyi when dealing with something cabbed make sure the ac is solid in its mounts… went thru belts on a big trac ho few weeks ago trying to figure it out…2 days later we found the cause

Went thru the same thing last year. X300 with a 42" deck. Replaced all the pulleys and it didn't help. I was stumped but found another forum that mentioned checking the level between the pulleys above the blades. Ended up being the deck bent where they bolt in just enough to throw off the angle, likely from a stick I tried to mow over. I hammered it back flat and it's worked flawlessly for 2 seasons now. Those john deere decks are flimsy. And their belts ain't cheap but they worked better than those I got at the parts store.
