Planning to take a trip down to orange beach in April and was wondering if anyone knew of any good public fishing spots. I plan to fish the pier and perdido pass. Any other good spots i should try while I am there? Thanks

i know they are trash but i usually catch some huge drum back there on the canal at that time of year. you have to fight off all the little craokers and what not but it is still fun. last year i caught 2 one afternoon that were both pushing 50 lbs
(guestimate)

It is pretty quite and peacefull back there most of the time other than cars passing by.

Wade out at West pass for some Spanish mackerel. Or the pier for kings.

Definitely West Pass. Wade out surf side for Spanish and wade lagoon side for specks. 2 for 1 spot

Will track deer in Marengo, Greene, Sumter, Wilcox, Perry, Hale counties.

yea the water will still be cold but the Spanish should have definitely moved in along with the specs. They wont be as thick but they'll still be there.

I dont get to fish salt very often, so I'll never forget what happened once several years ago. Fishing off the pier at Panama City Beach a humongous School of Spanish Macs came cruising through. After a limit for Me and My Wife, and just standing there watching for 3 hours, we left with a big smile on our faces. The school was thick and 300yds wide and went on and on and on. The average size that we kept was around 3 lbs. That was the best time I ever had fishing on a pier.

Thanks for all the great input. I caught several large specks last year at the pass and was hoping to make a fishing only trip this year. I will give the lagoon a try and see what I can catch. Thanks
