Taxidermist that did the cape for me gave a green score of 143 & 2/8 not counting any deductions. I’ve never had the opportunity for a deer’s mass to really help my score.
This deer had been bedded from me about 100 yards in some milo and I never had a clue he was there. He stood up about 7:15 (sunset out here is at 7:45) and walked straight to me. Weirdest thing I was completely calm until I saw him fall and then my knees started knocking.
Going on a DIY hunt in a different state on some private land I had never seen before, I was really questioning if I had done the right thing. I had already gone on a sit not seeing anything and until he stood up I hadn’t seen one that sit either.
Gents I promise that seeing miles of crops and CRP from these little hilltops out here, it gives a whole new appreciation for God’s glory. So thankful he allowed a sinner like me such a fun opportunity Kansas IS a food plot.
