i really like my Garmin 550, very easy to use but I use for my bird dog. Probably cheaper options. Jumping up is usually fixed with kneeing them every time they do it but you need others to also do it.

I had her broke but when she goes to the vet, groomers, or other people they let her do it. I get pissed because when I ask them to not they’re like “it’s ok, my dog does this all the time”. Damn agravating

I had a dog that like swiping counters. Mousetraps fixed that quick.

I figured it would be unless you are hunting him regularly. I like the idea of a mousetrap!

Don’t think bad of me but dogs are animals and you have to keep it simple. I’ve stopped dogs from doing some of the things you’ve described. The jumping up on folks…. 3ft of water hose doubled up and placed across nose at just about as hard as you can swing it will stop that after about the 2nd go around. Maybe a refresher every now and again. That has worked on dogs from lab size to huge German Shepards. The getting in the trash. I had a fair sized trash can. Went I caught them messing with it. I’d stuff them in it head first and hold them in with a pillow so I wouldn’t get scratched. And kick/beat the fire out of the can. Most house dogs only took 1 treatment and they was scared to get close to it again but you really got to scare them.
take your kids hunting and you won't be hunting your kids

I use the e collar educator but I also sent my dogs off to obedience school. They were trained with the collars they have. A world of difference it made. Well worth the money I spent.

A wise man once told me if you can't train a dog without a collar, you can't train one with a collar. I disagree with that. Having the time is as big a factor as the knowledge in my opinion. I simply didn't have the time to train mine so I sent them to school. Randomly pushing the red button without teaching is a good way to have a dog run out of the county.
Buy a collar but also follow a training program. I do agree with the other parts, simply wearing a dog out with the collar will become punishment not education. The collar should only be used as a correction if they aren't listening AFTER they are trained.

A collar can help a lot, but it can make a dog anxious if used improperly. Anxiety is probably the most difficult thing to break a dog of, so make sure you do it right.
Consistency is the key to dog training, no matter the gear. You may need to find people who will go along with your training regiment if they have your dog often.
If you or your family walks in the door excited to see her, they are training her to rush people at the door. I do not acknowledge or make eye contact with my dog until after I take a seat.
A 10 month old dog is going to get up to trouble. Don't let them get away with it, but also understand it's part of having a puppy.

My dog will practically put the collar on because she knows its time to go hunt!

I used this with both English labs that I had. This method and collar worked perfectly for those. The BMC that I had was a little more to work with to comply but in time it paid off. https://www.thedogfather.com/

You are reinforcing the training with the collar.
