Older article from April and when doing a search seems that not a lot of talk about what deals college players are negotiating with new rules change. Wonder if college football announcers will discuss what players are making. 8 million deal for high school junior seems pretty high! "A promising college football recruit could be paid up to $US8 million for three years in school, in a sign of the sport entering a new era it has long needed. The Athletic reports a five-star recruit in the class of 2023 - a high school junior, or what we’d call a Year 11 student - has signed an agreement that will see him paid $US350,000 immediately, with monthly payments that rise to more than $US2 million a year." https://www.foxsports.com.au/nfl/co...s-story/fa86242f6978ef0ece37c73eb9bd68b1Moderators: If this needs to be moved to sports please do so.

I can't imagine having that much pocket change as a high schooler! Making more than all the teachers/coaches and principals!

Sounds like if they managed their money right they could just retire after they graduated college.
If you had a base investment of $5 million you could live off of a 5% rate of return pretty well.

Never agreed with ANY of this ... talk about tearing a team down... got yourself a big money player in a leading roll while the grunts (offensive linemen/defensive linemen) work their tails off to make him shine. Sure pay 'em ... $$ goes to a fund that is divided at the end of each season among ALL the senior players that are graduating. Then... build the pot, and share the love the next year with that group of graduating seniors... Build a team.. not an individual.

I thought they used to pay them with scholarships.
It doesn’t matter I doubt I’ll watch any of them unless forced too

I thought they used to pay them with scholarships.
They did. Tuition, room, and board is $20k where I live. Total. For the whole academic year. The schools are making BBBillions. Obviously 1/3 of a new truck isn’t fair market value for these guys.

I can see some missed blocks on occasion for reality checks Like most Things that s me like a good idea at the time, this could fail They lost me with the BLM protest, individuals protesting elsewhere is one thing, protesting as a team is another

I don't give a crap how much they pay them. People can stay home and watch these spoiled democrats all they want. I will be on the lake fishing!! Yep, except I'll be shooting critters in the hardwoods. If you don't want your money going to institutions that hate you... get outdoors instead.

18 year old kid opens a successful company, makes millions. No different in my opinion. The top 1% in any field will make money.
