Anywhere between now and November. We like to shoot for the first weekend in October but have planted earlier or later depending on rain. Rarely do we plant before the third week of September. October is a very dry month but lower temps so little more room for error.

I hope it’s gets so dry not a single blade of planted grass grows anywhere in south AL this Fall. But that won’t happen.

I’ve always shot for the first of October but always try to plant before a rain. I have planted as late as first week of November with good results. If you plant in September I would plan on having to hit the fields with nitrate in December to carry you all the way through the season.

Winner.. mid-Oct through Veterans Day depending on soil moisture. Full disclosure: the deer on my place typically don't begin to hit the food plots until late Dec, so there is no big rush to get the greens up and going.

^ This. "December Doldrums" are True. I don't go into any areas on my place hunting until a hard freeze/Cold hits in January. I do aid in some Doe thin Hunts on some Plantations in Macon/bullock County. Otherwise.....it's a little duck and Squirrel hunting until it's time.

Planted one yesterday. First time I’ve planted a field in 5 years or so. It has got a good bit of rain today. We will see. I wanted to wait but got some things coming up that would push it further than I’d like.

I don't pay any attention to how much moisture is already in soil , I wait later when it's cooled off and just do it, ahead of rain. The seed will lay there till it rains. Never had a failure

Spent the weekend planting plots at our place in dallas county....we were pulling the tractors back in the barn late this evening when the rain hit...seems like we timed it perfect....guess it could get hot and dry on us between now and hunting season but that doesn't look like what will happen this week
