Be careful out there. I saw this today.

Florida student on a road trip through rural Alabama with girlfriend is shot dead by woman who pretended to be a stranded motorist so she could rob them at gunpoint: 'Killer' was living in a woodland camp with ARMED children. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...d-woman-pretended-stranded-motorist.html

Don’t help random people. If god wanted them to be helped on the side of the road, he’d send a tow truck.

Sadly, our society has come to that. Y'all may remember me talking about one of my former "customers" that just got the big needle a few months back. He, his brother, and a friend were broke down on the side of the road and a gentleman that just got off work in the early morning hours stopped to help them. As thanks they shot him in the neck with a shotgun and robbed him of a few dollars.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

Almost happened to my dad and I going turkey hunting one morning. Looked like a lady broke down and when we stopped a man came walking out of the woods. We hauled ass and called the law to help them. I’ve often wondered if they were planning to rob us at 4:30 that morning.

Unless he had a roll of toilet paper in his hand, I would say yes, they planned for you to stop,

I would have hated to be the cop who had to face down a 5 year old kid carrying a loaded shotgun. Damp people in this world done gone crazy.

I hate it for all those folks that legitimately need help, but I ain't gonna be the one to stop. I actually was flagged down by two women in the middle of the national forest with an identical story as the one in this article, "our battery went dead and we need a jump come pull in over here". I was in a rush to get back and told em if I saw the warden or anyone I'd send em their way and good luck. Felt like a jerk at the time, but it just didnt sit right with me.

I'd have fell into that trap, probably had the same ending or worse. I've stopped to help women on multiple occasions if not in a hurry to get somewhere. I've took pregnant women home to their family when nobody would answer their calls and a huge storm was rolling in. I've helped a few motorists by blocking traffic while they changed a tire. I try to help those in need when possible. But that story is making me rethink that. Shooter and her accomplice need the death penalty. They need to raid that camp and arrest everyone in it. Interrogations for all. I'm guessing there are more than one body scattered through that forest. Missing persons cases likely to be solved soon.

Character is not developed in moments of temptation and trial. That is when it is intended to be used.

Every time I’ve gave a stranger a ride, they second guess their decision when I have to move the shotgun to my side and put the pistol in my door.

I had the same thing happen. Pretty looking woman broke down at 4 in the morning. About the time I started to stop I saw the guy hiding in the ditch. I grabbed a gear and hauled ass

One night, my wife and I were headed to town and a car was pulled over with a jack out. It was a lady out "trying to change a flat". It was raining pretty good, so I pulled over to help. I was so in the truck talking to her through the window when my wife noticed someone in the woods. Two guys came out behind my truck. We weren't even in park yet, thank goodness. We hauled butt out and called the police. This was on Hwy 75 just outside of L
Albertville.

Several years ago when that ice storm hit real quick I had an encounter and I vowed then not to help anyone else I didn't know. Three guys were stranded, two different vehicles in the same place. I stopped and told them to get in. Two brothers were in the back seat of my Z71 and some other guy up front with me. He had what thought was a Bible case. After a couple miles, he unzipped it and pulls out a 357. I immediately stuck the barrel of my kahr to his head and stopped in the road. The two in back was looking for an escape route and the one with a gun literally pissed in my truck. He had a short walk home, I carried the other two home.
I really believe he was just wanting to show me his nice pistol with no ill intentions but I didn't like it. I'll not help a stranger again

I’m curious on the details of the camp they found. They have been quite on that. Bet if it was some good old boy rednecks camped out it would be 24/7 news for days

If I had to guess they don't want anyone snooping around out there until they are done.

I slowed down on a 2 lane one night for a car with the hood open. I eased up beside it with the passenger door window down a bit and doors locked. Dude asked me to pull over in front of him. I saw others in the ditch. When I eased forward he tried to get in the car. As I sped off I saw 3 others come up out of the ditch from both sides. Never stopped since if I don't know them. That was 40 years ago.

If story is correct, it sounds like he hesitated using his firearm and it cost him. Very understandable with robber being a female.

Last person I stopped to help was a woman walking down the road crying, carrying a youngin with a car a couple hundred yards behind her sitting there with a flat tire. That's about what it takes to get me to stop. Someone sitting there trying to flag me down, I won't even think about it.

I have been wondering about the camp and others too. I beleive both women, at least one is black. They had a pictured of the second one in the shop at Cheaha State Park that was being circulated. Maybe I am just uneducated or whatever, but two black women and a young kid living in the woods does not fit the profile in my mind. Almost certainly has to be others.

It is not worth robbing someone today. I never have more than ~$50 on me at any time. I use my credit card for 99% of my purchases.

Having said that, people that would consider doing something like this probably are not very adept at risk/benefit analysis.
