China would sign their own death warrant if they conducted a preliminary strike on US military personnel anywhere in the World over Taiwan. It would be the dumbest move since the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor.
China needs the United States 10x more than we need them. We can use our 11 carrier battle groups to choke off China from the rest of the world within a couple of weeks. Once we do that, there is nothing they can do. They will wither on the vine. The only thing keeping them afloat is world trade and without that, they are done.
Repeat after me... China does NOT have a blue water navy to project their power across the globe. Only one country has that. The United States. Without a blue water navy they can't defend their trade routes through the choke points in the oceans. All the US navy needs to do is close off those choke points and it's GAME OVER for the Chinese. Period. End of story.
Sounds good in theory, but warfare these days isn't restricted to the water. I'm sure they wouldn't just fold like a wet napkin

Wishful thinking. War is much different than WWII. We’ve seen that during our lifetime. Americans are much different also. Not nearly as many patriots as there used to be. Only way I believe the U.S. could win a war nowadays is if God has mercy on us and it is His will. And we’ ve turned our back on Him. Book is older, but “Red Dragon Rising” by Edward Timperlake and William Triplett II, is right on mark.

I agree with You Irish. If push comes to shove the USA will display its military might on China and China’s navy is just not close to what it needs to be to do much about it. China is historically not a very military like nation. Reference World War 2 to what happened to China at the hands of the Japanese. The Japanese even though outnumbered completely obliterated a good portion of Chinese territory before the United States entered World War 2. China has no practice at War since and I feel like the Chinese people are still the same Chinese people in China when it comes to fighting a War. They simply are not very good at fighting Wars as history has shown. China is obviously different Nation now since the world has helped build there economy up since the late 1970’s but they are really still the same old China with more money now. This is the reason they are trying to bully around the South China Sea and Taiwan. China will have made a grave mistake to strike the U.S. military equipment or personnel and they will learn a lesson that China will pay for with there nationhood.

It’s saber rattling and all about saving face. They will conduct military drills and fire off some missiles but that will be about it. They can’t take a war economically. China is winning the war against us by buying our valuable assets. Buying up much of the worlds precious metals and minerals. They moved into Afghanistan when we left.

Like has been said before in this thread China needs the United States 10X more than We need China. If China no longer has the United States buying and trading with them then China no longer has money coming into Communist China. China will then dry up and suffer terrible economic consequences. China will no longer be buying up or trying to influence much of anything if they get stupid and try and think they really are the Big man on the block.

China is hoarding as much as they can in the food chain. They manipulate the markets by intruding into the supply and driving up demand. I doubt they actually fight us in a war, they’ll fight us financially and materially. That’s was my point. When one has it all they don’t need nobody else for a period of time. The way of attrition so to speak. Folks mentions Russians don’ mind their own dying need to look at Chinas abilities in that arena. https://www.brookings.edu/essay/the-long-game-chinas-grand-strategy-to-displace-american-order/

Saber rattling is what I keep hearing over and over. Even heard that the Russians have a long running joke about “China’s final warning”.

The best way to contain China would be for Japan to rebuild its military.
But if that didnt happen and it was the US only... China has a large but completely untested military, while we have one that has been at war for 20 years. We have all the logistical issues figured out, which is a large part of fighting a war. If you cant get stuff from point A to B when they are needed you will lose.
And a pearl harbor type attack would be difficult since we dont have all our stuff in one spot. As Irish said our Navy is the largest and most capable on the planet. Another thing to consider would be that if China attacked and things went nuclear, as long as one of our SSBN survive they are screwed.
A single Ohio class sub (We have 14 of this class sub) carries 24 Trident II missiles. Each missile can have either a single or multiple warhead, with a range of 7500 miles and a 475 kiloton payload. The bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki were less than 20 kiloton. One of these missile could easily take out the Three Gorges Dam which would flood the largest part of Chinas manufacturing areas. It would flood all the way to Shanghai (750 miles away). It would also wipe out the city of Wuhan.
In addition to the flooding aspect of losing that dam, it produces power for 60 million people. It is the largest hydroelectric dam ever built.
I love my country, but don't trust my government.

Sounds good in theory, but warfare these days isn't restricted to the water. I'm sure they wouldn't just fold like a wet napkin Agree crenshawco. Not to mention the incompetency of our current administration. Haven't they (China) been buying up a crap ton of land in the US?

They bought Smithfield meats a few years ago. They’re buying our food chain. They been buying the Midwest in huge blocks. 8-10 years ago my buddy was approached about tying to put a large crop land purchase in Arkansas and north by Chinese investors
