How long do you guys with gas carts get out of your battery?

This a 2021 cart, purchased December of 2020. Cart just stopped going down the road in neighborhood. EZGO Valor with factory battery. About half the size of a car battery. Guess I figured it would last many years on a gas cart with no issues. But my diagnosis leads me to weak/dead battery.

It’s a dead battery but stopping like that means a bad alternator too.

Does it sit for extended periods? Do you keep it on a trickle charger? Do you have any aftermarket electrical accessories on the cart? The cart has a generator in It to charge the battery when running. but if you discharge the battery and don’t put it on charge or have a dead cell on the battery it will die. It only takes a few months for a battery to discharge when sitting if not on a charger.

It doesn’t get driven much. No charger. No extra lights or anything.

So……it just needs charged? With a trickle charger? Or did I ruin this battery? Guess I didn’t think or worry about it being a gas cart.

I hope not. Maybe I just neglected the battery.

I had the same issue with my gas cart, when it sat for periods of time. gave the battery a deep charge on the charger. Then drove it around a bit, battery has held a charge. But now I keep it on a trickle charger and have not had any problems.

Got the battery charged, rolled around the hood this morning for a few minutes. Stopped and tried to start back up and same thing.

I have a Yamaha gas cart. 2020 model. And the battery went bad after sitting for a few months. I installed a cut off switch on the positive side and haven’t had anymore problems. Something must be draining them on these newer golf carts.

I'd just put a new battery in and then see how the alternator charges it. Obviously, the battery is junk if it only held a charge for a few minutes.

I have a 2018 EZ GO with the original battery and so far, no issues with it.
Note: I also have a lightbar and a wench wired directly to the battery also.
