Guys, I know there has been a thread on this, but ‘I could only find threads on Montgomery and Huntsville. I have a niece that lives there and has found out her husband of 3 years is having an affair and also found out it is not his first. They are done. Recommendations?

If she’s the one being cheated on she can pretty much pick any attorney in Birmingham. If she was a he it would be different but she’s fine. The guy’s get screwed in Birmingham the women walk out smelling like roses.

Don't believe the anecdote. Just being a woman in Bham doesn't mean she wins. I got divorced here in 2009. My wife tried to get crazy stuff. She got nothing. She tried though. Without a good lawyer I would have gotten hosed. And yes, SHE was the one that had an affair. I almost lost my butt. A good lawyer makes a difference. I used Bob Starr. But find a good one. Don't assume anything. I promise her soon-to-be-ex isn't assuming any wins.

No need for a PI. She borrowed his phone one night to make a call and found all the evidence she needed. She said when she asked him about it, he started shaking.

Nope! I got custody of my sons, child support, medical and education tie breakers, and she has to cover their healthcare until they are 26 in Jefferson County. It is not a slam dunk if you are a woman.

I don't think hiring a jack azz attorney is the way to go. There are serveral out there, Sarah Senesac is one also. Generally the judges don't like them, and that doesn't help you. These judges are rarely overturned on appeal, and your first appeal is back to them.


This is the best advice I can tell you about a divorce. It is now a business transaction. In business, you get the best deal for yourself you can get. It is not a time to be nice. Get everything you can upfront, because going back is expensive as all get out, and takes FOREVER.

Wendy Crew was great during my parents divorce and my Dad got full custody of myself and 2 sisters, but it did about break him financially. She was having an affair and also abusing narcotics. It was a awful thing to go through as I was a senior in high school with an 8th grade sister and a 3 year old baby sister. Really glad its behind us.
