I tried a Ruger red label one year. It seemed like all I was doing was loading it.or checking to see if it was loaded. Just me though.

Some call it more sporting to only have two shots.

My wife’s browning is a tank but it’s made more for skeet and sporting clays. My beretta is light as a feather but it’s made for upland hunting. So to answer your question some may be heavier and some may be lighter.

To me I pick one up and it feels right
.weight balance and just feel like I can't miss with one.
Easier to take care of and clean also

I tried shooting one that a buddy has and I could not hit anything with it. I gave it back to him and went back to shooting my automatic and went back to hitting almost every clay that was thrown. The gun felt good to me just couldn't hit anything with it to save my life.

Not much of a wingshooter, and don't own an over under. I've noticed a few differences in my limited experience:
1. Better balance makes it swing better. If you regularly shoot skeet with your auto, then that likely overrides the central weight distribution.
2. Shorter overall length, which I find useful with 28" barrels.
3. Different chokes for follow up shots. This could be overthinking things, but some people like it.
4. Makes policing brass easier.
5. They look cooler
6. My third shot is usually a waste of ammo, but so are my first and second lol

Like the old saying years ago, "Top one shoots over em, and the bottom shoots under".

Life is a journey. Make sure and bring plenty of Beer.

My luck has been so bad lately, it could be raining pussies and I'd catch one with a dick broke off in it.

Heard an old feller who was a huge fan of side by sides say if God intended folks to shoot a over/under he wouldn't have put your eyes side by side. laugh

I have found that most folks who are missing with an o/u aren’t getting their head down on the bead and shooting over their target. I love mine and if I get the chance to dove hunt it’s what I take

Only accurate rifles are interesting.

That's funny and I've heard it before.

The main difference between side by side and over/under is manufacturing costs, since it's easier/cheaper to regulate over/under barrels so that they shoot where they're pointed and the patterns from each barrel converge to have the same point of impact (usually at about forty yards if I recall correctly).

And the advantage of having two chokes for near/far is a real advantage, both for dove that are approaching you from a distance (tight then open) and for quail and pheasant when flushed (open then tight).

It's preference . I prefer a pump 870. Even tho I own autos and o/u. A pump will always be my choice.

To me a good O/U or SxS just feels right . A SxS was my first Shotgun and both my Grandpas shot them . I guess part of it is nostalgia and part just liking the lines of them . I own some nice Autos that I like to shoot but most of the time I'm toting a O/U in the field or range . They just point well and are shorter and handle quicker for me . To me they are the best looking guns ever made .

Find a good o/u and its like an extension of your arm. Points effortlessly and the lack of receiver makes 28-30"barrels feel very balanced.

I hunt with a SA, but I've shot nothing but my o/u's at clays since hunting season ended.

I always think I'm gonna buy an ugly o/u to hunt with, but still haven't.

I can shoot almost any repeater or SxS you put in my hands….whether it’s a perfect fit or not. You can fit me at Purdey or Krieghoff for the best OUs they make, and I won’t shoot either as well as a $300 repeater or low end SxS. Don’t know why, other than they don’t swing/run through the bird/clay like non O/Us, to me. I’ve tried and tried over the years for clays and hunting. I still hit with them, but not nearly as well as other stuff….all else being equal. MyFox SxS 20ga I got at 11 years old seems to shoot itself. Same with my Auto 5s.

I've hunted with an old Citori for 25+ years, its the Upland Special with English style straight stock and 24" barrels. I've shot sporting clays, skeet, ducks, quail, dove, rabbits, squirrels and a couple coyotes with it. I've used it so long that it's almost a part of me when I shoot it, I shoot "instinctively" with it, never aim and I don't miss much. People make fun of the barrel length until I shoot it, I dove hunt in west Texas every year and limit out in 30 minutes to an hour with my old, beat up gun, the guys I hunt with rarely limit out...they buy new shotguns every other year it seems like. Find a gun you like, stick with it and use it often. Of course, it needs to be an O/U, nobody has even mentioned how much better pictures look with an O/U
