My soil has about quit producing a good garden. I can’t keep up with the weeds. Weeds take over faster than the crops and over runs the garden. First 3 or 4 years I had no problems with weeds, but now they are taking over each year I plant. Any suggestions to fight or kill the weeds and help the crops have more success?

Pull or kill before they go to seeds. What kind of weeds do you have?

Build raised beds. That's the solution that I chose.

Sorghum Sudan grass is a great warm season cover .As far as cool season cover crop, Ive started planting frosty berseem and durana clover mix and its been a night and day difference. In one area I planted ambrosia corn into standing clover and it was one of the best corn crops I've had.

I have same problem . I plant maters an pepper far apart enough so I can till around them . The rows i till close to plants until they get too big. Then have hoe out the weeds an grass. Mine get full of grass this time of year. I pull up weeds an weed eat around them an spray just the weeds with grass killer. Can t even find my melons now grass too tall.

I plant winter wheat every year when the garden is done. They call it Green Manure. Wheat roots help the garden too
I have never done this but heard it works Yes, you can kill weeds with plastic. The technique is called sheet mulching or soil solarization and is a terrific organic (yes, the plastic is environmentally unfriendly but it can be saved for reuse over and over) and no fuss way to rid a potential garden space of weeds.Mar 27, 2021 I did the soil solarization. It didn't help mine much.

Growing a good cover crop and tarping it is a quick way to improve your soil.

Cereal rye puts off something that naturally stops weed germination. It also makes a great mat and will block out sunlight also helping to stop new growth. Leave it till time to prep the garden, cut it and till it in.
I picked up some old truck tarps for my area and going to try them. Only trying that because they were free. To add nutrients back along with the cereal rye id plant diakon radish.
