Going over in a couple weeks for our anniversary. I’ve never been so was looking for advice on things to do or places to see. Thanks

Watch out for the panhandlers on the cobblestone river walk , nice place and I like there but they will sneak up on your wife from behind and hand her something then want u to pay for it , almost ended very poorly as you can imagine . Several good places to eat there . I’d avoid Paula deans ( overrated ) the dinner cruise is nice , they also have ghost tours where u can see old homes . Drive out to Tybee island or jekell island , sand is not as pretty but it’s ok .

I’ve got to go there again next week.

River walk is ok. Never found a great food spot and the big famous brewery there in town is awful. There was a decent pizzeria on the river walk and one bar across from the Marriot on the river walk. As far as the rest of the town I was actually shocked how run down everything had gotten. Sad really

My only advice is be very conscious of the street parking signs. Certain spots close nightly and you will get ticketed.

I love savannah. But I love historical cities like that. But last time I went was in July and I found that there is a hotter place in the summer than alabama……. Savannah.

My suggestions in no particular order...

1. Stay somewhere in the historic district so you guys can walk everywhere and take comfortable clothes and walking shoes.
2. Huey's for breakfast at least once and order some Beignets for dessert with their Carmel sauce. (Don't wear dark clothes.)
3. Vic's on the River for dinner at least one night. There's a cool hand drawn map on one of the walls that General Sherman's officers drew of their march. It's highly inaccurate, but a fascinating piece of history.
4. Take one of the little bus tours first off so you can get some of the history and places and know where you want to come back and check out in more detail.
5. Go spend a few hours at Bonaventure Cemetery. Seriously... Yes a cemetery. It's a really cool place if you like history. Some of the statuary is amazing. It's a very shaded place too, with giant oaks and Spanish moss.
6. Spend some time just walking around the historic district checking out the old buildings and architecture, the many town squares, vintage book shops, etc...
7. Mrs. Irish and I took our bikes one year and did a bike pup crawl by biking from one Irish pub to another and there are quite a few Irish Pubs in Savannah. I had a Guinness at everyone of them and still made it home.
8. Eat at Mrs. Wilkes for lunch one day. There's usually a wait, but it's good food.

I did some legit research on the food and all as well as took advice off of here.

100% recommend for anniversary dinner to go to cotton and rye.

This. I would add that The Cotton Exchange on the River walk is pretty good too. If you don't already have a room, The River Street Inn is cool. Nice and historic and very convenient.

Been there a couple times......too many Gay,Weird,Liberal folks for me. Reminds me of a Little New Orleans. I like Apalachicola much better....Stay at the Gibson Inn...a lot of history there as well.

We were in apalachicola last weekend, had a good time. I hope I never o to Savanna again.

Ride the trolley loop , you can jump on and off wherever you want, good history lesson and sight seeing. Go on the Ghost Walk - Ghost Talk walking tour at night.

Just not my cup of tea. Y’all can have it. If you cross the bridge over the homeless camp into South Carolina you can find a tittie bar or two within a few miles.

That ought to be perfect for an anniversary trip

Well…I wouldn’t mind so much but I can definitely say my wife would not approve.

Used to be owned by a local family, guy from New York bought the Gibson out and sounds like he’s trying to buy a bunch of other businesses in town. He bought the Owl restaurant also.

My BIL owns a ghost tour business down there. I’ve been on the tour. We had a good time.
