Anyone over or in a club that offers turkey rights separate and how they handled it? We've got a 1300 acre lease in north AL and considering offering turkey memberships or to allow 1-2 people the turkey rights and trying to see how others handled similar setups.

We did it on our lease but I ended up leasing them because I donā€™t want anyone on our property. I donā€™t even Turkey hunt really but now I donā€™t have to worry about someone getting ideas.

The way it was arranged had we selected someone else was just put them on the overall lease insurance and the club president would swap locks (one set for March and April, one set the rest of the year)

We charged $1.50/acre

We have a small group of family and friends mostly from our church and so we wouldn't want someone we couldn't trust, its not worth that. We were considering 2 permits/memberships.

I was I. A club that did that. This was a while back with lower prices overall. Turkey memberships were not really a thing at the time. Dues were around 400. President decided he wanted the turkeys to himself. And made it 1200 for turkeys plus the 400 for everything else. Told him he could have both.

At the club Iā€™m in now. There are no separate memberships. But we do have a few turkey hunters that do not deer hunt. They pay the same as everyone else.

Typically the hunting clubs that do turkey hunting only memberships that I been a part of or heard about - it is cheaper than regular dues - maybe 1/2 sometimes less - if 1 guy gets it exclusive - they may pay more for exclusivity

Turkey lease out right is usually $2-3 per acer - could go lot higher if it loaded - market demand - clubs May do 1/2 membership piece or even many cases less - smaller animal - 6-7 week season

If u got a guy that gone pay full membership to do turkey only - good for u. I donā€™t see paying full membership price unless u only talking $400-500 and not many turkey hunters

One club that was $2500 dues I payed 850 for turkey only - but it was not exclusive - it was 1200 acer - I would hav give $2k for exclusive if it had birds and consider it a deal

Hunt the wind - leave it better than you found it - love your neighbor as you love your self
We need prayer for our country now more than ever

Thatā€™s the way it should be imo. I know several folks that backed out of good clubs because somebody got selfish with the turkey rights or they leased out turkey rights. They ended up having hard Time finding new members for the premiums they were still asking to just hunt deer.

Agreed Hawndog & Forrest- everyone in ours joined a "hunting" club. Separate memberships for this or that is a recipe for trouble.

It creates a supply demand for no reason, and things tend to take a snowball effect behind it.

We created separate memberships for turkey for a few years to generate some additional funds for new stands. It was a pain. Never again.

One club we had did this and it was a total pia with the turkey hunters constantly bitching and complaining about each other. Man I thought deer hunters were drama queens.

Thatā€™s why if youā€™re gonna do it, the deer hunters have to agree to it, and you lease it to one person and let that one person bring in whatever agreed upon number of hunters is required.

If you want to always win, never play anyone better than you!

If it's good bird hunting, it's an easy way to get outbid on a lease (depending on type of lease)

This..

But it seems hard for the deer hunters to comprehend that for 6 weeks out the year to stay out. They all want to ride to the camp, ride sxsā€™s, check their stands, etcā€¦..
If the turkey hunters did that crap during the deer rut theyā€™d lose their minds.

And thereā€™s always ol uncle so/so who only gonna hunt one weekend ā€¦etcā€¦.
