Anyone familiar with one of these in Jefferson Co? What might a child go to one of these for? I'm unfamiliar with the term.

Hmmm. So if a kid was leaving one and DID NOT have prescriptions, would you think he is just generally defiant?

Back several years ago my wife and I did foster care and for the first eight years we took in kids that were labeled as therapeutic, most of them teenagers. It's mostly kids with serious behavioral or developmental problems and would be seeing counselors on a regular basis also. Every now and then one of the kids would shuffle from home to home until they could find a family that they seemed to halfway click with. Sometimes it was simply a personality thing or something cultural. Unfortunately sometimes there seemed to be no fit locally or noone available and when that happened they would send them to a group home or therapeutic group home. In most cases foster parents only took one therapeutic kid at a time unless they had siblings but the group homes had paid staff 24/7 trained to work with them and had several kids for each staffer. More like a hospital scenario than a home lifestyle. If you're a foster parent one day you're crying your eyes out, the next angry at the world and the next elated. I would imagine that part is the same in a group home. It's an emotional rollercoaster that you have to live to understand. We're foster parents and the little fella we are taking in tonight is headed south from one of these types of homes. It is our understanding that he does not take daily meds, so just trying to get an idea of what we is on the way. Y'all say a prayer that the young man sees our home as a loving & safe place, and us as friends, not foes.
