What’s this stuff and how do I kill it ? In years past I tried granular copper sulfate with limited success. This year I sprayed with a liquid Copper Sulfate ( Cutrine ?) and didn’t see much change. Last Tuesday I used Tsunami ( Diquat) at .75 oz/gallon plus 80/20 surfactant. Some grass around the edge is dying and a spot of Cogon grass that was on the edge is turning brown too.

There’s a pretty good inflow of fresh water. Almost ready to add lightly diluted chemicals at the head and see what happens. Threat of killing off my fish keeps me from pulling the trigger on that

Have you tried to dye it dark. The irrigation pond I’ve been around dye them. I was told weeds can’t grow if sunlight can’t get to the bottom Don’t get the dye on you I kinda know why..

I dont know what it is but ours seems to really get going the rain after the hayfield around it is fertilized. It usually dies out and sinks when it gets hot. Ours floats. I have gone up there when the wind blows it to one side and scooped it out with a hard rake

We just fertilize ours starting in April, when the water gets where you can’t see but about 16-18 inches deep that will usually go away. I use Bio Logic perfect pond plus fertilizer.

Put some grass carp in your pond.

Two things - diquat and copper sulfate together, mix according to what you buy. 2nd, carp are good until they get big and just eat your feed, another suggestion is using talapia, but they will die when the water gets in the low 60’s. The breed very well.

I e got it too. Carp aren’t cutting it. I’ve put 40 in the pond in 2 years. It’s 1 acre. I dyed it this year but rain kills that quickly. Gonna dye again and scoop some out. I heard fertilizers help keep the water darker and keep this issue at bay.
