Is there a cotton gin near you? They all have a trash pile full of leaves, bark, sticks etc that comes out of the cotton during the ginning process. I know the gin in Sweetwater has a huge pile down the hill (or did) and some of the pile was OLD the last time I saw it. That stuff was black as midnight and should make some excellent potting soil. Other gins may not let a pile accumulate that long, not sure. If you go to one for this stuff, ask where the newest part is and avoid that. Possibly some herbicide residue on the new part of the pile from this past crop.

Peanut buying points have the same piles but they’re usually just hulls and shelled nuts. Great for putting under your potting soil to help drainage.

PS, please respond back after you get what you want and let people know where you got it.

I'm an hour and 30 minutes from Bham. I moved to Lineville less than a month ago. Got plenty of cow manure.

Thanks so much to FX4 and jb20 for the pit y’all supposed to me. It is going to be such a help. If y’all get anymore please let me know as I still need a bunch more. If not for this year for sure next year. I plan on doing at least 30-40 matter plants A bunc of cucumbers, melons, and a bunch of squash, corn and many more things to take to the women's shelter and mens shelter.

And I think I am going to not use cow as I can use rabbit and chicken. I have a friend that supplies me chicken but if anyone raises rabbits I would like to buy the manure.

I think in the next 2-4 yrs I will supply the shelters with several pots and buy them the seeds and everything needed and teach them to grow a few things on there own. What’s the saying…. Take a man fishing

That’s my update for now. Thanks to everyone!!
