Maybe off topic, because I'm not reading all the posts, but I get a kick out of folks who wear sunglasses when it's cloudy. They probably wear masks alone in their vehicle too.
Overcast hurts my eyes just as bad as bright sunny. The fact that people worry about why folks are wearing sunglasses should bother you.

Polarized glasses work well when driving in the rain as well.

Agree Make it three on this Maui Jim's are my favorite I do still wear my Oakley wrap arounds, those are just comfortable on my nose on long driving situations. I only do polarized - dark - poly lenses. The heavy glass lenses are just not comfortable for me long time wear.

Actually; brown polarized work very well when cloudy. Especially fishing You don't need sunglasses on dark cloudy days when driving. For fishing, maybe so, maybe not. You may not, but not everyones eyes don't work the same. Depending on cloud cover, the outdide light affects me in the same way flourecent lighting does and there is a "glare" for lack of a better discription. Sunglasses will cut that glare and I can see better.

Any of them besides costas offer some with built in reading lenses in the bottom? I had a pair of Costa C-mates readers but they at the bottom of the Warrior river just up from Franklins Ferry now My dry eye syndrome was making it really difficult for me to stay on the lake fishing once the sun got up very high, so I had to find something other than my prescription glasses with a shaded clip on. I found these for $39 and haven't had an eye episode since. The bifocal window is very small, but I like that. It's enough to let me see to tie on a hook, but I don't notice it unless I'm intentionally looking down. They are straight out of China, but so is most everything. https://www.instyleeyes.com/product...nearly-invisible-line-bifocal-sunglassesAs someone with dry eye syndrome I feel your pain. Bright sunlight, fluorescent light, windy days and in the age of mask wearing (I work in healthcare and required to wear). I live with drops in my pocket at all times.

I jumped on the Smith Optics bandwagon three years ago with Chromapop Igniter’. Best sunglasses I’ve ever owned and love how they can be worn from low light to blazing mid day sun.

Maui Jim's, are the best you will find, Costas don't seem to last, BUT I am about to receive my 3rd Free pair of Costa Permits, if your willing to spend the time to submit a warranty claim, they will acknowledge it, sent off a pair of the plastic lenses and got brand new pair of Glass lenses in return, have had no trouble with their Warranty department No, they won’t. Not for the most obvious and simplest of things for their own issues…..at least since they sold out to the Luxotica woke oligarchy, and not for me. Been there, done that, with the warranty claims. Their frames are sh I t now. Smith, Maui, and plenty of others make better frames and have FAR less lens distortion than Costa now. Used to, they were worth the premium. Now, their lens QC relies on their different coatings, not their clarity of production.

Been wearing Ray-Bans for years No need to switch now The way I think about sunglasses is if you buy a cheap pair you won’t care what happens to them but if you buy a quality pair you’ll see to that nothing does happen to them

Yep, all of those things irritate mine too, but fishing is the worst. I think it is the combination of the bright sun and it being reflected off the water, and the wind coming around the frame of the glasses. It was always worst when running the outboard. I have really been surprised at how much the el cheapo glasses have helped. I used to have to close both eyes when running the outboard, so I feel much safer being able to operate the boat with my eyes open. As for people wearing sunglasses to be cool, I would point out that the Blues Brothers wore their sunglasses at night, and nobody was cooler than the Blues Brothers.

Overcast hurts my eyes just as bad as bright sunny. The fact that people worry about why folks are wearing sunglasses should bother you. Yup. It has to be almost dark for me not to wear sun glasses. Clouds or no clouds. Try them next time it's raining, as long as you have good glasses, you'll see what we're talking about.
