06 family of cartridges

I didn't know that they made a 338-06

Tell me you never visit the Guns & Gear sub-forum without saying you never visit the G&G sub-forum. 😃

We discuss the round often and many of us are proud members of the 338-06 owner’s club.

308 has a good many.

There is 243, 260 Remington, 7mm-08, 338 Federal and 358 win. Plus some dude wildcatted a 270 bullet one and called it the 270 redding.

243 Catbird - 270 Winchester necked down to a .243 bullet with the shoulder blown out (angle increased) to 35 degrees - The 270 Winchester is a standardized cartridge of the same design as the 30-06 except the case is 1.2mm longer and necked down to the .270 caliber. Therefore, the 243 Catbird is a 6mm-06 with a 35 degree shoulder and a 1.2mm longer case.[10] The .243 Catbird was developed by Kenny Jarrett of Jarrett Rifles to achieve 4000 fps with a 68-70 grain bullet.[10][11] Actual performance tests showed the cartridge achieved 4100 fps with a 70 grain bullet, 3800 fps with an 85 grain bullet, and 3500 fps with a 95 grain projectile.[10] Jarrett describes the chambering as a "barrel burner" with a barrel maintaining accuracy for about 1500 rounds.[10]

I read a lot about ammo on Wikipedia. Just pick a round and search it you get a lot of info on it and other rounds related to it

Many of the cartridges based upon the original cartridge are not the result of the manufacturers. They were created by wildcatters and their ideas were later adapted and standardized by the manufacturers. A large number of our current cartridges can be traced back to two cartridges, the 30 06 & 375 H & H magnum. Even the 308, which has spawned a while family of cartridges, is essentially a shortened 30 06 case.

It's not the same cartridge as the Rem 6.8 SPC -

More damn 338-06 and 358 Winchester threads than Where to eat, Trump, and Covid threads combined 🤣
